Hey guys,

First time poster, and first time putting together an AV receiver/surround sound setup. I've been using a Samsung HT-x40 htib for several years now, with an added Polk Audio PSW505 sub, but just moved into a bigger home with a bigger family room 20x17. I've been doing some research with around a $1000-$1250 budget, give or take a little and the system I'm putting together is below. It's got to be a budget system as I'm not rich. I'll be using the PSW505 that I've been using along with an additional new one. I like the sub, in my opinion it sounds great and I haven't had any issues with it. I'll be setting up in a 5.2 setup and maybe later use the other two channels for outdoor speakers. I tried to post links but this is my first post so it won't let me. I'd appreciate any feedback/critiques of the system I've pieced together and possible alternatives. Thanks in advance!!

Receiver: Denon AVR s700W
Speakers: Klipsch Quintet 5.0
Subwoofer: Polk Audio PSW505

Thanks Again,
Clay

Hello and welcome to HiFiVIsion Clay.

Your selections looks pretty decent. But why don't you look at pre-owned speakers? Or, get the second sub in a few months time and opt for a better set of speakers now? The s700W and the Quintet could be a bit underwhelming for a 20X17 room. You could always upgrade in parts.

Look at AudiogoN - The High-end Audio Community for used gear.

Shuv,

Thank you for the response.

I wound up talking with a friend of mine who's in the audio/video sales/installation and was able to get a bit more bang for my buck. He gave me his pricing so I decided to go with the below setup.

Denon AVR-s700w receiver
Klipsch RC-52 Reference II Center speaker
Klipsch RC-51 Reference II Front Speaker Pair
Klipsch RS-42 Reference II Surround Speaker Pair

I'll add another sub when it goes on sale, but I think that should be a decent setup for now.

Please let me know if you see any issues with that setup, or know of any issues with the gear.

Thanks in advance,

Clay
