Flipkart ventures into Home Audio

@svkndv, Flipkart should join our forum to know what "actual Hi-Fi" is. I guess for the outside world anything above 5K or bose.. is Hi-Fi. I know, because it was for me..:p.

Hope this just the beginning and not the end.:) I hope they add in some DVD/BlueRay players atleast. With Amazon taking almost forever to start operations(when is it 2013 or 2014??), nice to see flipkart diversifying.

They already sell Bluray players under video player sections. They have been selling these for long and offer a decent discount as well.

My Bad. Infact, they seem to have quiet a good number of options. I happened to visit after a long time. Thanks for pointing out.

Let us wait for the actiual Hi-fi. currently Lo-fi listed
Generally, agreed.

But, the day that my turntable finally succumbs to three decades of cat fur I'll probably be ordering one of these as I have always thought that even an entry-level pro-ject turntable would satisfy anyone not in, or able to be in, the market for vinyl exotics. The NAD, for rather more money, would probably be interesting too.

I doubt they'll be selling anything exotic or high end, but who knows? Flipkart is certainly an enterprising bunch of people: we might be surprised!

It's curious that the only hifi-separates item, so far, is turntables, rather than the much-wider-interest amplifiers, CD, or media players.

Developments to be watched with interest :)

^^ Yes, the fact that so many TTs are listed at all (some of them reasonably serious entry-level kit) is a very good indicator of the vinyl revival.

Or well, they might be just trying to drum up a market for the LPs they list too. Without enough TTs out there... :p

Recently I placed an order for a camera with Letsbuy.com. Since COD is only available for goods costing less than 25K I transferred the entire amount of 57K to their a/c.. A couple of days later (while the order was still being processed) I changed my mind and requested them to cancel the order. They have a clean and swift procedure for cancellations. I received a confirmation within a couple of hours that my order had been cancelled. Next day I received a transaction ID number and a message that the entire amount had been transferred to my a/c. A few days later the entire amount was reflecting in my a/c.

I have been extremely satisfied with all the transactions I have done with Letsbuy till now. I believe Flipkart purchased Letsbuy a few months ago.

Very good point!

I have some CDs on my Flipkart wishlist (although I haven't bought any music from them yet) but hadn't realised that they had vinyl available.

By the way: I hate calling it "vinyl!" In real life they were always LPs and, to me, they always will be :ohyeah:

I believe so, too. So far, at least, it seems to be maintaining its separate identity, despite Flipkart's move into markets very different to its original books.

I read an article about the company a few weeks ago. Despite a big turnover, it is still, apparently, in "negative profit," as the management bullshit experts call it. I really, really hope that we are not going to see India's very own repeat of the dot-com collapse story.

Yes, you are right of course.

The 45s were called singles, at least for pop songs. There were also EPs (extended play) which, if I remember correctly, were the same size as singles, but gave longer than 3 minutes. LP = Long play

78s were pre-vinyl, and made out of fragile shellac. If you flexed it, it cracked; if you dropped it it could shatter. There was the day I broke my mother's favourite record... :(

Ah, how good those 78s used to sound!

I guess we should get back to the thread topic :o ...

Just saw today, flipkart has now added Focal chorus and and KRK Speakers to its list. These include the Focal CMS range. Although most of the speakers are in the coming soon list, this looks like good news for audio enthusiasts. Hopefully the pricing is also good enough. :) cheers!

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
