Free FLAC players for Android Phone

Audiolab 7000CDT CD Transport
Initially I was using Poweramp but finally settled for Playerpro (paid version) for its simple and attractive user interface. It also has a free version.
 
I'm not very keen on the sound from my phone, but ... andless is a good, simple player.

It allows opening files/directories too. I loathe players that do not provide this most basic functionality, insisting that I can only get at my music via their indexing and management features. I hate that!
 
I think FLAC is by default supported on ICS+ i.e. the flac library is shipped by default with android and all players should play it. What is the android version of your phone?

My Defy+ was Gingerbread, but is now CyanogenModed to JB.

Hi Ram,
Good question... even i am asking myself this question. Basically i wanted to download couple of FLAC and download the same in mp3 format and feel the difference. There are couple of things that i am trying to target with this experiment
1. Do i really need FLACs (considering the download time and availability)
2. If it really makes a difference to the sound, will the phone suffice (basically trying to save money on media players)

so i thought i will scout for the best free player. If anyone has tried the same... do let me know your experience

File size has ceased to be the arbiter where PCs are concerned: terabytes of storage are available as a matter of course in the home, but the phone is still limited to, what, 32Gb?

Even for those who can get a digital output and carry a DAC/HP-amp with a good pair of headphones, capacity remains an issue.

1. Have tried multiple combination, 256 and above i could not find any difference.

2. FLAC makes a good difference if you connect the USB out of the phone to USB in of DAC and use a good can. This makes a huge difference. Basically, u r making your phone a transport and streaming digital uncompressed music for the DAC to process and send to your headphone

We can connect Speaker - Dac - USB cabl - Mobile Phone (Flac)
It is for the better quality sound

I tend to differ on this.
I listened to FLACs for the first time when Linn was offering free daily downloads last Christmas. I played those FLAC files on my mobile phone and since I had also downloaded mp3 copies of all those (from Linn), I could clearly make out the superiority of FLAC files. My source was HTC Incredible and headphones were Audio Technica T500.

Good for you. May be your phone makes the difference, neither in my Defy or Xperia Z i was able to make any difference.
 
A source from which I regularly download paid music changed its formats from FLAC to 320K MP3. In principle, I regret this: I had so much rather have my music in FLAC format. In practice, I just listen to the music. It tends to be live performances, and the audio may be imperfect anyway. Us audio people will continue to do stuff that may have more basis in preference and theory than in actuality, and we have that freedom, and freedom is good.

I do wish I could get USB audio from my Defy+. A phone, financially, must last me three years, and there are almost two to go. I hope for even better choice in 2015!

What will be the difference between playing a FLAC from phone and playing it from a media player?
