Front Floor standing speakers vs Normal 7.1 speakers

Hi,

I have a basic question:

Floor standing speakers for Bigger rooms with more sound or else we can use this for smaller rooms with low volumes also.......Plz suggest!!!

If you can place a floor standing speaker in a small room and still do not get shouts from wife or mother, then by all means do that.

I personally prefer low volume low and mid range sounds coming from bigger drivers (at least 6 inch) It gets desired volume of air displacement with lesser transient lag. I personally prefer low Xmax bigger sized drivers.
Upper frequencies are better coming out of small 1 inch or so sized drivers (for me).
