FS Audition in Mumbai

Day one Audition :

These results are based on my ear , speaker SQ may sound better if paired with another amp.

1. THE SHOP (Andheri west)
Speakers : Mezzo 6
AVR : Denon 3312
Transport : Dune HD

Midrange and Bass was missing and lacking in Highs.
Solid Body comapred to Avinao 6 MDF body.

Speakers : Mezzo 6
AMP : Denon PM 710E
Transport : Dune HD

Bass improved. Mid range was good.To listen to Details i have to increase the volume. After 30 minutes my ear started paining. Overall not impressed with the SQ.

2. Alliance Four (Goregaon)

Speakers : Paradigm Monitor 7
Amp : Atoll IN 80 (Made in Europe)
Transport : Cambridge Audio Azur 650c
Cable : Chord Odyssey

I found them to be somewhat forward and a little bright. Sound is very open and airy. But where is the bass ? I tried to search for it but it was never there.

Sound was not open i had a feeling something is restricting the sound. Resolution was very bad. within 2 minutes i switched to PSB Image T5.

I could hear tiny details which i was not able to hear in other speakers. Cymbal, Drums sounded very good.

I could easily find the difference bass was lacking a bit. Details were missing.

Aviano 6
Tweeter sometimes sound harsh, cymbals little bit harsh, drums sounds muddy. Vocals are good.

Im giving rating keeping PSB Image T5 as reference speaker.

Today I have auditioned PSB T5 and T6 with NAD 356 at Lakozy. As you rightly said they are match made in heaven they sound great. Bass was little more in T6 but if you add a small Sub with T5 you can compensate the bass department.

I also auditioned T5 + small PSB sub paired with Onkyo 709 AVR. Some Zakhir Hussian Tabla track was streamed (wireless) from PC using oRemote app installed on Harsh Merchant (Lakozy CEO) iPad. I was amazed with Resolution, Presence and Soundstage T5 delivered. I can easily make out the sound of Dagga, Chanti, Syahi (Black Spot). Then Spiderman scene was played with T5 as fronts and C5 as center and no doubt speakers done their job well.

Mr. Harsh Merchant is a niece gentleman he was sitting in one corner when i was auditioning T5 & T6 paired with NAD, when i started asking questions he jumped in and explained many things answered my all queries. Although im not good bargain but he got little disturbed when I started bargaining. Final price quoted was approx 5 to 6% more than the market price.

T5 with NAD sounded more attacking and dynamic compared to T5 paired with ATOLL IN 80 if which I auditioned with Atoll In80 amp yesterday.

My choice is the 326BEE (budget + size of room) and T5. I dont want to spend the extra $$$ on 356 .. from what I read and heard .. the 326 are more than enough unless you have a really large room. Pritesh (co owner i think) did suggest the 356 but i think im going to go wth the 326. The T5 sounded beautiful with it.. great sound stage, good bass.

My final audition will be with my music - about 10-15 CD's next week. I think im good at bargaining. If you do decide on Lakozy and PSB's lets buy together .

If nothing else, let's grab a beer together and share our stories etc.

If you are open to visit my residence at Thane this weekend, you can also audition my DIY TL FS speakers with entry level hardware. I am sure you may get even better judgement about how a high-end speakers should sound. If you wish you can carry your CD player, Amplifier and CDs along with you. It could be a very wise decision.

Me three, me three! The audition @ The Shop made confused the heck out of me. There were a pair of Cantons going for a discounted price (old Ergo series as per the shop owner). The GLE ones were apt for me. However, I the fact that 'The Shop' is the only place that hosts these is a big catch.

@Hari sir, I would love to hear the music of your setup, waiting the rain gods in mumbai to show their mercy. I am new to the audiophile setup, and am surely suffering from 'analysis paralysis'. Would like to learn a lot from experienced folks.

Yesterday I checked with Boomrang at Borivalli they don't have any MA FS for Demo.
Today I will call Fairdeal Deal Electronics and The Den they must be having Paradigm Monitor 9 or 11.

Fairdeal is your regular electronic store like croma that sells everything ... It is a CRAPPY place to audition .. They have some Paradigm but I didn't like their setup.
