Just got a pair of GoldenEar Triton 2s.
Positioning these were difficult in my room - but once I got this right the sound just comes alive. The imaging is incredible & the output seems very even over the full audio spectrum.:)
Just wanted some advice on good CDs, Blu-rays etc., used for breaking in speakers. Thanks:D

look for telarc's burn in cd. pm me if you have trouble finding it.

the golden ear triton are very very good for the money and they are all rounders. congrats!

Amazon.com: XLO/Reference Test & Burn In: Xlo Reference Recordings, Various Artists: Music
this is one of the best burn in CDs.

But i would recommend burning it the natural way...that way you get to enjoy the process.
A combination of Leonard Cohen , Eric Clapton Unplugged (Awesome sub 25hz Bass) and most female vocal albums are good. its usually the Mids and bass which needs a little movement and the crossover to get burnt in.. and 20-30 hours is usually a very good time to get to a good level.

Another option is to burn them in with radio noise. The key to burn in is to try and use the entire audio spectrum hence a wide variety of music is recommended. Do it at a medium to moderate level for the first few days.

Congratulations on a great buy. Just saw the write up on Stereophile.com. They look like they need some power to start singing. What are you using to drive them?

As usual, how much was the damage to the wallet :) :)

Thannks arj & nikhil for the burn-in suggestions.
As far as driving them goes - for my home theatre requirements I use a Denon 4311 & a Cambridge Audio Azur 651BD- For my stereo requirements I use a Nakamichi Amplifier 2 & a B&O CD player (I forget the model number) & a Rotel turntable.
I do have plans of upgrading my stereo amp & cd player.

They will need a little power. Ajay has a great Bryston 4B SST Pre-Power on sale here that would absolutely makes those speakers sing.
A little on the higher side but if you have the budget snap them up.

Actually due to the inbuilt amplification they don't need very powerful amps. If you look at the Stereophile review the reviewer has used 35watt amps to drive these satisfactorily. All professional reviewers say the the same thing. If you have the time take a look at

The reviewer has done a test with a 2-watt amplifier.
(I read the above reviews & the stereophile one & decided that the Triton 2 towers certainly look like speakers worth looking into):ohyeah:

Congrats acjacob on the Triton
Having used Deftech bipolars for a long time , I can guess the Tritons sound signature. If the ribbon tweeter sounds sweeter than the aluminum domes of the deftechs, the Tritons can be tough to beat in the price range.
Try tubes or tubelike ss with these speakers if you can , they might click.
Cheers

Thanks for the advice. I hear that Carver Power Amps sound quite Tube like.
Yes the sound is pretty even on these (still in break-in period - but the more I use them the better they sound). The tweeters are great but not overpowering.
There are quite a few comparisons on the net of these with the DefTech Mythos SuperTowers

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
