Marantz 5006 is a good option. recently I purchased That(earlier had denon 1911). however my main application is music. considering that you are going for a 7.1 option I guess your main application is movie. I think denon 1912/1913 or onkyo 609/579 will be a good option for movies. as always you are the best judge for your requirement and go for auditions if you can with same speaker set/setup.

I have been in the receiver game for quite sometime and I currently own the Marantz SR6006. It is one cracking musical sounding AVR and at its price tought to beat. AirPlay is an added advantage. I do not care much about the picture processing and the most of the SR6006 strenghts lie in sound and that is all that matters!!

Recently i have audited Marrantz SR-5006 with Energy V-mini. It is delivering clean power to the channel, but i felt it is too warm music, more settings dependent and movie is not bad. Same time i saw denon 2112 and yamaha Rx-A810 is neutral for music and movie and also long duration listening my ear is not getting tired. Yamaha is little edge with music clarity compare to denon. I liked Yamaha RX-A810, even i thought to buy marantz. But i felt Marantz little deviated from Natural sound and movie can't beat denon and yamaha.

I hope you auditioned with different speaker options.I auditioned 7-8 floorstanders and each had different sound signature with the same source/amp. I feel all the receivers are good and have some edge over other for a particular feature/perfromance. but it is the setup(source ,speaker, DAC, room acoustics)and personal listening preferences, which makes one combination sounds good over other.
i am running polk rti a7 with marantz 5006. it does well. but if you look to crank your system say playing music at -1dB or such louder volume, within 6-7 minutes it gets shutdown as it gets too hot & then have to wait for another 6-7 minutes to cool down. But this volume is very very high for music. I have also connected a large center channel to it so may be its too much for marantz 5006 to power up 3 large speakers at very high volumes. I am looking to add up power amp to power the front towers & then marantz 5006 should be able to handle center & surrounds.
But I never faced this issue in movies & it does very very well even at playing at high volumes. Movie experience is very very good than music

If the deal about 3312 mentioned above is correct.... take it with eyes shut. Denon AVRs really shine above the 21 series.
I was not happy with the Polk TSi300 & Denon 1910 pairing two years ago. But that assessment is based on music listening. For movies it should be fine.
But going with 3312 or 6006 level AVRs will be very rewarding. NAD T747 will also be a good option for Polk Audio.

If possible please purchase with ear open. only go by suggestions if you cannot go for auditions at all.

If your room is not too big, consider 5.1 also as an option.
Polk Rti series are better than Tsi series..........you might want to look at 5.1 with RTi rather than 7.1 with TSi. There are many other names that you can also look at........Wharfedale, Mordaunt Short, Paradigm, etc..........go for a good 5.1 system. You can always upgrade to 7.1 later.

Polk Audio Rti A9 are awesome floorstanders. Just awesome in bass department, i just cannot find another tower that can match the might of A9 in this department. But its greatest strength is the mighty bass does not smack its mids & the highs. You get a completely balanced lows, mids & highs. And yes A9s are very musical.
And with 1000 watt power handling capacity for a pair, it is one hell of a bare chested floorstander.
With towers of A9's caliber you need something brawny in the power amp department. I have recently launched a thread in polk audio forums regarding the matching of my Yamaha DSP-Z9 + Polk Audio Rti A9.
Fortunately a very renowned member of that forum have the same setup & he says I am going to enjoy them for years to come. :yahoo:

Yamaha's and Polks match very well. My Yamaha DSP-Z9 will pump a minimum of 170 watts per channel at ultra low THD levels @ 8 ohms in stereo. But that's the minimum. Actually it will be somewhere near 200 watts per channel in stereo.
I will say borrow money and get the RX-A3010.

The RX-A2010 is more potent in the power amp department(which you need) than RX-A1010.
Here is a power output comparison between A2000 aka A2010 vs A1010.
Yamaha RX-A2000
2-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8/ 4 ohms] = 171/ 236 watts
5-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8 ohms] = 71 watts
7-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8 ohms] = 63 watts
Yamaha RX-A1010
2-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8/ 4 ohms] = 117/ 150 watts
5-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8 ohms] = 54 watts
7-channel [1 kHz, 0.1%THD, 8 ohms] = 34 watts
A2010 simply put is way more powerful. A3010 even more so. Remember these are one time investments, so you need to get the best. In case of severe shortage in budget, wait for few months, take the excruciating pain of watching those awesome A9s standing still and then gun for A3010.
Even with the A3010 you will be able to see half of A9s performance capabilities. But even that half of A9s performance will be more than enough to blow me out of the window in my 11 ft by 21 ft room.
Are you able to get the cherry color of A9. Or is it the black version?
