Good Carpenters - All Cities

hey bro i know it sound silly but as far as good carpenter there's no one as good as punjabi carpenters especially sardars(sikh)

so don't mind just filling up the information :)

we have here in my city few superb carpenter

I got a guy called Babu to make my FRs, gave him the drawings and he was able to take it from there with a little guidance. Paid 3.6K labour(350/day-he was well worth it+250/day for his asst-which was a bit high).Job was well done. Is familiar with speaker enclosures. 9880529987

The earlier wod working outfit I used would probably have cost me a bit more.

Will he make speaker stands? stereo stands?

I know him now he is in Chennai [tambaram]. He started a new company named JK ENTERPRISES..He is running his business successfully...contact him to get a best interior...

Luckily. I got a very good carpenter from Kerala who has full ledged CNC machine where we have designed and built speakers.
It’s nearly 2 years since I’ve utilised him. Still going strong.

Let me guess, Albin?
I reached out to Albin a long time ago to have a pair of subwoofers built, but he was unresponsive to my calls and messages on WhatsApp. After a month of trying, he finally answered my call. During our conversation, he shared photos of his previous work, which showed that while he has good carpentry skills, he lacks experience in speaker building. He tends to use inadequate bracing, often opting for just one piece if suggested. I also shared his responses with others to confirm his qualifications, and they expressed similar concerns about his work quality.

Well, you're right about him being unavailable most of the time. I got a pair of bookshelves made last year. It took quite a while for me to go collect them from him, as I was busy. But he was kind enough to keep them well packed for me.

We had a discussion, too, especially about bracing. He seemed knowledgeable and told me my speakers will have adequate bracing. My speakers are 12 kg/piece and super solid (8 inch drivers). I have not gotten a chance to see the innards of my speakers, though.

He prefers affordable range of drivers. He suggested Dayton, SB Acoustics & Dooge. I settled with HiVi. I know drivers are only one link in the process of making a good speaker.

Most of his customers are local theaters. I asked about making a floor stander for me. He said he is too busy to take up new orders. The man has his hands full. That could be one of the reasons for his disinterest in customers like you and me, lol.

Do you know anyone else in Kerala?

I'm not familiar with his speaker constructions. I reached out to him for a set of 12-inch subwoofer boxes based on @adas recommendation. After I shared my experience and photos with Ankit, he also seemed dissatisfied with his methods. A quality subwoofer requires significant bracing. You might want to look at his subwoofer designs. He has solid carpentry skills and can make them appear professional, which I acknowledge, but he lacks professionalism in the hi-fi aspect.

When I made these last year, I just reached out to the carpenter who made our house interiors (wardrobes, kitchen and chests). He has zero knowledge of speakers. But followed my instructions to the dot and it turned out really good. But the design should be completely yours and needs supervision. They built it in our car park. Took two days. It was built on material + labour cost. You choose the MDF quality and I went for regular laminate for the finish instead of vinyl wraps.

Arun
