Folks,
The other day I got a call from the dealer at Audio Planet Bangalore, Mr.Palani.
He told me that he might consider getting ATC dealership for Bangalore. I was really happy to know this and gave kudos to him for the amazing decision. Yesterday I visited him for some other work and saw an SCM-11 in one corner and I was quite taken aback, then he took me to the other room where there was an SCM-40 standing all connected:yahoo:. I was so happy to see the instant progress they have made. I heard the 40 for about half an hour, enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Though it was played through a CA 840C CDP and CA pre-power, it was still sounding nice and plump. Definitely there were improvement areas which we discussed in terms of electronics and some placement but still this is the best sound I have heard at any dealer's place in the last 5 years !!! So you can imagine.

He revealed that he is getting the ATC amps and ATC Active speakers as well very shortly...thats super news for me at least. I just hope he does good business and stays dedicated to these amazing line of products. I have interacted with him quite a few times and to me he is one of those dealers who always keeps great pricing and even better after sales service. I wish them all the best !!!!!

I loved the ATC SIA2 integrated amp with SCM19 combo that i heard here in chennai.

The ATC SIA2 amp Costs a bomb here in chennai, so i am hoping the Bangalore dealer will bring down the price.

Hi Dr. Bass,

Thanks for the information. If you do not mind, have you compared a CA 840c or even a CA 740c CDP with another good CDP in a decent set-up? I have not owned very expensive CDPs in my life, but have heard a few, and IMO, these two CDPs are great VFM and can be paired with classy amp and speakers. CA products were not among my favorites (even in the budget range) until I auditioned the 740c and 840c. I especially did not like their amps (all integrateds that I heard) that much. But Cranky has told me that the 840 pre-power combo is quite reasonable (well they are not cheap anyway, costing around 2L, aren't they?). Well, your audition actually proves it, because the ATCs are pretty revealing and if they received something bad, they would bring it out in the open.

I agree that one does not expect to see ATCs fed by CA electronics. But my point is that both 740c and 840c can weigh much above their price class IMHO.

Regards.

Hi Asit,
I may not be able to really give you a clear picture here because I heard this as a "setup". But yes, couple of things that I thought about the CA electronics was, "very detailed" but a touch analytical and bright. Since I know a little about the ATC sound I could make out only this much about the electronics. However the CA did sound better than my expectation with the ATCs. A nice tube preamp could help a lot in adding the warmth and delicacy within the same setup.
