I've been out of the high-end game for a while, since my return to India, but am slowing getting back in.

I am looking for a decent powered subwoofer which can fill in the bottom octaves, down to 30Hz or so, and takes speaker-level inputs (this is critical, as I have a 2A3 integrated amp which doesnt have line outs).

I dont want loud, earth-shattering bass - I usually listen to music at pretty soft levels, and it will be paired with Viren's Harmony One speakers, and the main goal is to fill in some of the lower 2 octaves and improve the timbral accuracy of instruments.

I used to have Velodyne something-or-the-other back in the days, and am wondering what is a good option to try out these days. Budget is around Rs 60-70k, give or take.

You probably only need just an 8 inch or 10 in sub with a 50 to 75 watt sub amp ! Unless of course you will eventually start playing LOUD music !
Most commercial offerings will be higher powered than that.

But there are good brands that will suit your needs. JBL Harman India have one. They used to have an 8 inch one but I can only see a 10 in driver now.

MRP is Rs 35,000/- . Has line level inputs plus LFE. No inputs for speaker level. But that isn't an issue at all. It's just a matter of soldering up a few resistors to the RCA interconnect cable. I can work it out for you if you want.

JBL drivers are world class. Don't look down on it due to lower prices. Many sub's are highly over priced in my opinion. But then that's just how products are sold in today's market ! :)
