Hello folks

I needed to buy a 46" lcd/led tv for my living room and had short listed two popular models the sony hx850 and the samsung es8000.

After having read several reviews of both the TVs and various suggestions on this as well as other forums, I went for demo of both the TVs. I had 3 rounds of reviews at different showrooms and finally zeroed in on the hx850.

My purchase details are

- bought at Reliance Digital on 11th November
- delivery done on 12th November
- installation done on 13th November
- bought at Rs.1.14 lakhs, no freebies taken.
- package included only the tv and two 3d glasses

I did all the external checks to ensure no demo product was delivered. However, I was a bit lost on entering the service menu to check the usage hours.

Any step by step help to check the usage hours will be most welcome.

For now, I am happy with the TV and enjoying it fully.

Thank you

Congrats. A great buy. You got a great deal too. I was quited 119k for the same and no amount of hanggling would budge the price any further.

Thanks. I too was given the same quote when I went to demo for it. I had to really bargain hard..(literally threaten to back out of buying it ) before I could wriggle out the discount.

Congrats on your new TV. Did you opt for extended warranty ?

Congrats... we got the same tv 2 weeks back from Reliance Digital for 1 lac 5k which includes exchange price of 2k for our old tv and 1k cash back from ICICI bank. So technically the price comes to 1 lac 7k. We didnt get the extended warranty for which they quoted 7k extra and got 1 stupid digital photoframe and a pendrive with MIB 3 movie in it n 2 3d glasses. This tv is just soo awesome... best buy ever lol.

That is a very good deal Bravia850. This is the best I could get in B'lore. They were not willing to budge from this price and no one else offered a better deal

@Blessed.. I know its the same here in Pune.. no one gives you any discount/deal... it was just our good luck and a nice store guy in Jumbo electronics who gave the first deal then everyone else joined the bandwagon to give us deals.. and the best one we got from Reliance for the ICICI cash back. Infact everyone was scaring us every where that it will be a display unit... but we checked the serial number of the display unit and thankfully ours was a new piece. But trust me this tv is sooo awesome it will totally blow your mind... the HD channels are amazing.. I keep watching tv all day long.. and me n my husband keep fighting for the remote.

@Bravia 850 - you were really lucky...I am sure you must be thanking the store guy in Jumbo who started it :)

I fully agree the tv is awesome...I don't have any HD channels at the moment but planning to move to DTH soon and yes, it is the same in my house for the remote. My wife monopolises it during the day and at night it is a fight.

Let us enjoy the TV

@Blessed.. get hd connection quickly... we upgraded our videocon d2h.. its awesome. Happy TV watching.

Thanks. Will do that. In the meantime can you please share your experience with videocon d2h...the price, service and picture & sound quality etc. You can PM me this info if you wish.

We upgraded our old SD connection with upgrade offer. We got the DVR box for Rs.6350 or something but got Rs1200 refund in account for upgrade offer giving our old SD box. Service of Videocon is quite good. The only trouble we sometime have is the connection vanishes lol... but we make call and they do some tweak on call itself and immediately the connection returns. Picture quality is basically awesome. HD channels are mind blowing especially of Discovery and NGC. 3D channel keeps showing the same programs over n over. We still haven't recorded anything so no idea about recording facility.

can you tell us more about this 3d channel of videocon d2h ?

what kind of shows it airs
and is it of same quality as a 3d bd movie ?

Thanks for the info. What is the subscription charges? How often or frequently does the service vanish...is it very often?

Also, how many HD channels do you get and is the sound 5.1 or stereo? Your response will help me decide between videocon/tata sky/airtel.

Thank you in advance.
