I recently bought a Marantz NR1403 to use it just as HDMI switch but my Apple TV would not play through it. I did my research and formed this understanding. It appears the HDMI version of Apple TV > Marantz's HDMI version. It used to work earlier but stopped working right after I did a firmware upgrade on my Apple TV so I am suspecting that this upgrade took HDMI version to level that is greater than Marantz's HDMI version.
Now, if that is true, is HDMI version on Marantz upgradable via firmware upgrade?
