Hi bought the SA 7001 in Nove'10 for 25K from "Bass & treble", New Delhi. From the day 1 there was problem with the cd compartment.

It used to close/open a zillion times before the system was able to read the contents. I reported it to Mr. Denny (owner of Bass & treble) and he got it picked up and returned it after a fortnight with an assurance that the problem had been sorted out for once and all.

But after a few weeks it started showing the same symptoms along with a couple of new ones like in the middle of playing it shows "open" on the display and then "close" although playing goes on..... after another few weeks the system takes God knows how long to read a cd..... after its favorite game of open/close.

At this point i feel i hve been cheated of my hard cash with a defect product which was deliberately traded off ...... and i was the scape goat.

I have no idea where to take it in New Delhi for a thorough check up and fix the problem.

The only solution "Bass & treble" gave me was to buy the newest gizmo "DAC convertor" and keep that SA 7001 as a show piece.

I have no other window other than this forum to address my problem and hope for a solution.

Please help.

You could take it to Decibels India. A 83, Ground Floor, Olkha Industrial Area, Phase II, New Delhi - 110 020. Tel: +91 11 26385654, Mobile No: +91 9871799531. They have been keeping Marantz for a long time.

Or you could contact the national distributor MZ Audio Distribution India.

Sorry below if hurts...

It is too late that you are mentioning the problem and no way you can blame "Bass N Treble" about your trouble since it bought before 1 year. you should have given back the system to them once you had the trouble in initial stage itself or before completion of Warranty Period which you are eligible to get an replacement ( is it 1 year or 2 years- check up ) if you have purchased with INVOICE/Bill. You have bent and pleased with them on their sweety word or you are ready to live it up with the problem you have faced for last one year.

I dont think so they have cheated, yourself you have cheated for the Last 1 year and putting the problem in board:sad:

well i dont think you have read the contents of my post ...... i had complained about it in the initial stage... and they had serviced the player and it ran well for a couple of weeks.... and after that wen i approached they started to avoid my calls and even to extent of meeting up.....

anyways no use of explaining so much to someone.... who only talks about "to do" stuff.... i had asked for some help out here... not some lecture....

sorry if it hurts....

Nope, it never hurts in an open forum:p

Lecture should be heard before buying not after buying:)

I have read your points very clearly, what is the time frame in between "initial stages" & "couple of weeks" whether it fell in between the Warranty Period. I just to try to pin point your mistake so that other members will be careful and not lack. If your item is just few hundred rupees we can lack in followup, sure you have spent some few 5 figure thousands.

I just made an point and let it be clear and aware to all members who were reading this, that they should try to utilize the warranty period only to exchange the item to an new one if problems were created occasionally and not to get serviced repeatedly.

srini,

your gyaan assumes that the sellers ( or dealers ) are bathed in milk. Please stick to the point and help out if you can.

Moderators.. i suggest a different thread for all gyaans and rants. There are quite a few gyaan givers these days whose gyaan can be parked in 1 thread for all interested to enjoy.

Rgds,

Thanks for the suggestion but aren't we as customers rather stuck with whatever the service center or in case of niche products (most likely in hifi products) seller say or do? Aren't we at their mercy to service or exchange in whatever time that suite them? They have the most convenient excuse of parts not available?

Your are right, may be one time excuse for repairing an rock solid product like Marantz which were built like tank and made for withstanding years together without any problem. If the problem occurs and they tell parts are not available we have full right to claim an new product or till give an replacement which is under warranty. Aren't we are getting an replacement TV while it was taken back for service by "Samsung", if we insist and also there are cases in this forum "Money were refunded " " New replacement given" if we approach properly and with strong and clear mentality to withstand and ready to followup steadily.

We Consumers in India lack in followup and also rules laid by Govt and Law Process is not supporting properly to get an qucik result.

You have enough gyan I believe not everybody have :p Read his post execpt 3rd and 5th line, he is blaming Bass N treble for everything, if he could have asked only the solution for his problem sure enough experts will chip in. He never answered whether he bought with bill and warranty or an grey piece. If it is grey without bill we have to suffer, let everybody here understand the trouble of getting in grey market piece.

We cannot open an thread separately to put above to get the gyan, we never the read the rules and also the instruction booklet in full. Then we have to get the gyan only in day to day life and also from this kind of thread.:D

I do not think he bought it new. 25k for a SACD player is too low. Maybe a pre-owned peice

I have purchased lots of stuff from bass n tables from Denny and even my friend as well .
We never faced single problem on service and any installation help from him , he is very dedicated towards any problem , last year my friend receiver one channel dead and very next day he got back after repair from OEM service center .

I belive you should ask for replacement if the pc is not working well even after many repairs .
No harm sharing my personal exprence with bass n table Denny .

I have left it with Decibels India, Okhla yesterday for a thorough check up and servicing. Hope they fix it up once and for all......

Anyways I just wanted to inform that I had bought the 7001 with proper invoice but as Mr. Neeraj0272 rightly said, we are at the mercy of some distributors and the owner had virtually put his hands up coz he is in a fix now.

Mr. Srinisundar, i would just like to add that i had genuinely called for help in my thread and also wanted to tell other who are planning to buy such products to make a thorough research of the shops before spending their dough.....

mayukh,

i have the SA7001 too and till now ( touchwood ).. its working fine. I do not have anything to contribute in terms of tech details or any leads on good service centers. But once you get your problem resolved or otherwise.. please update this thread for folks like me who own similar products.

Looking at the responses of a majority of members on this thread, i genuinely believe that preaching and gyaan about buying grey or new or the like or consequences .. have no place in this thread. they deserve to be somewhere else.. where the gyaan giver can type to his hearts content and the gyaan receiver can imbibe similarly. The others can be spared of the misery.

regards,
mpw

dear mpw,

i am keeping my fingers crossed.... tomorrow... the service guy from Decibels India shall call me up and give a report. So far their dealing is total professional......

anyways..... i shall keep updating this blog as when i receive feedback from the service centre...

As for the gyani and their disciples... the world abounds with these breed... we have to live with it......

thanks again for the support.

We pay a huge premium over the prices of these products abroad and these products are highend products unaffordable by general masses in india. So I think we deserve decent services.
Its like buying a mercedes and getting a service of truck.

Dear Neeraj,

I cannot agree more than what you have written.... someone had posted a reply to this thread talking about exchange and warranty while comparing these products with the regular shelf items like "Samsung"....

There is a saying "one who wear the shoe, knows where it pinch"... so i guess i have let out my opinion in one line....

I believe we can do sumthing about this whole thing of after sales in this forum.... atleast we can give a try and pull in people ... these days everything is quite easy in this cyber world.

Thanks for your support again.

^ Your thing 'would be' doable if and only if the 'law' gets seriously on your side .... and does not remain a namesake entity. You have to decide whether it is 'worth' the trouble, namely patience, time, follow-up etc etc.

Another easier way out .... why buy something EXCLUSIVE? Exclusivity costs money, both capital cost as well as upkeep costs. It is the upkeep costs which pinches, and pinches really hard if the results do not get back to the original levels, that too after spending a lot of moolah to rectify something. It leaves a real sour taste in the mouth.

Now, how would you feel if Decibels were to hand you an estimate of 10K for the repairs, which otherwise might have costed you less than 0.5K ...?
