Hi,
Am planning on Denon x2000 or Denon x1100 avr.Their only purpose will be movies.Dali Zensor 3 for fronts,Zensor Vokal for center,Zensor 1 as surrounds and a good Sub for around 25k.My maximum budget is 1.25k which can be stretched to another 25k including the avr.Plan to upgrade to 7.1later. with another pair of Zensor 1.
Your suggestions and the price regarding the said components will be very much appreciated.

I am in the same boat. Have Auditioned Zensor 5 and Polk Rti A7. Polks were too good for movies and was good for music too with 550 sub woofer. Zensor 5 was good for both movies and music. But clearly Rti wins over Dali for movies. They are in a different price band too. So I am leaning over to Zensar 5 quoted at around 50K. Rti A7 pair is quoted around 65K.

For Zensor 5(movies), in 5.1 mode, need Denon X1000 or Denon X2000? Could not audition the speakers with Denon, so do not know whether X1000 has enough power to drive or need X2000. I dont need 7.1 just thinking on whether which would do justice to Zensor 5's for movies. Would Dali's match with Denon's? Yamaha 577 is also the same price as X2000.

For sub woofer, the Pro 550 was good enough punch matching with the Rti A7.
Not sure how it would match with other setups though.
Demo'ed Dali EF12, was a good match to Zensor 5's. They are quoted at around 45K. The Velodyne EqMax 10 is quoted at 47K. Not demo'ed them though. Right now looking at only 3.1 and the budget is already 1.5L.

You can audition as much as necessary and then decide. Good luck on your search.

I don't have much more experience to answer your query. but after going through various forums, most of the members says Dali and Denon pairs very much well. But I suggest, if your primary goal is movies, then Polk will win here. And if you are considering Dali, then Denon X1000 can easily handle Zensor 5 / 3. My major usage is Music, So I chose Dali and considered Denon for pairing with it.

Thanks for the input. Can i match the Polk subs with Dali speakers? And what about the build quality between Dali and Polk?Am now planning for zensor 5 as fronts. Will add zensor 1 later in the 7.1 set up.

The Polk 550 were in the profx audition along with Rti A7's, should say they matched really well. Same with Dali woofer with Dali speakers. Although in general the consensus is that the woofer need not match the timber of the speakers. For me the velodynes seems to be blending well with the Dali's. Except for the rattling being experienced, for which need to experiment with placing the sub woofer in different locations.

Thanks but for my curiosity have u auditioned the same and yes how is the performance.
No,i did not audition the sub,i blindly took the words of our forum members and purchased it.I auditioned Dali Zensor 7 with Acuusound sub.Not bad,but am not sure about that brand.Zensor 5 is enough for me,so am waiting for the delivery.

I'm was also searching for a good sub ( for movies) I did auditioned the Dali e12f but I couldn't justify myself the price. Since the low frequency doesn't have any direction, I don't have any good reason to believe there is something called 'matching sub' for a speaker. I would say it's all about how good is the frequency range for the sub. I finally booked SVS PB1000 to work with my Dali Zensor 7 speakers.

I do believe that the human audible range is 20 - 20 KHz, as the name implies it's not always the sound it's the effect as well, when it comes to LFE

Dali is good brand and you have to invest huge amount for getting good Dali speakers. So go for other brands that meet your budget.
