Hello,

I have bought a Samsung F6500 Blu Ray Player (which is awesome btw ;)), which has Optical Digital Output, along with my Samsung 32" LCD. The Player has 7.1 output.

Now, I am not sure if I am getting too greedy :ohyeah:, but I am looking for:

7.1 Speaker System, which has built in FM, to which I can also connect my Tata Sky connection. The unit will be used for both Movie and Music.

And I have a very low budget of 10K (+/- 5K)

Please help!!!

Vikrant,

A full fledged home theatre setup will cost you a lot more than your budget, even if you plan to buy used (second hand)

Your best bet is to look for HTIB (Home theatre in a box) solutions. Onkyo has good HTIB systems which are good value for money. However, even these would cost you at-least 25K (new)

One solution is to build up a home theatre system piece by piece. Start with the AV Receiver, then add the front speakers, centre and rear speakers as you save up money. Buy used systems (which come up often on sale in the forum) for better bargains. One thing to keep in mind if you are building up a system in steps is that it is best to buy all the speakers from the same company and preferably from the same series. This will ensure that the speakers are tonally matched.

Best,
APK

Its tough to get a good home theater system within your mentioned budget. If you want a good one, and don't mind spending more, follow Apk's advice. If you don't want to spend anything over the mentioned budget, then I suggest you go to any electronic store like croma or reliance digital and buy a 5.1 or 7.1. You will get plenty options in brands like Sony, Philips, Samsung etc. But, I would still suggest you save more and buy a proper htib, which is going to set you back by a minimum of 25k.

I understand that I need to spend some, to get some :indifferent14:

I actually have one 4.1 Intex Speaker System (randomly picked one system along with my previous Phillips DVD Player, luckily the System turned out to be okay in terms of quality)

But since my new BluRay Player had the capacity of 7.1 output, I was thinking of upgrading my Speaker System too... :)

Another very greedy (and maybe a dumb ) question, can I use the existing 4.1 Speaker System in any way, and upgrade it to 7.1? By say adding few speakers and changing some connections in the unit?

You can probably use the 4.1 speakers that you have as rear speakers for your setup. In a HT setup, the front speakers, centre speakers and the subwoofer make the biggest difference. So I would suggest that you at least invest in a good set of speakers for the front left and right and center. Use the remaining 4 speakers that you have from the 4.1 setup as your rear speakers to complete a 7.1 setup. You would need to invest in a decent 7.1 AV Receiver.

Best,
APK.

Okay

Another dumb question :indifferent14:

Are there any 7.1 AVRs which aso happen to have FM reception?

:licklips:
