Help Required - RX-V 471 GUI on CRT

Dear All,

Got Yamaha rx-v 471 yesterday. I have connected Amp's "Monitor Out" to my TV's (CRT) Video input, via video rca. No GUI is displayed.
As per manual page-20, the following is written :
"When connecting to a TV w/ cable, other than HDMI, operations with TV screen (such as the setting of the unit, operations of iPod/USB devices are not available)

Is it so ?

Most avrs wont show gui on composite and component out. You need hdmi.

Congrats Slash,it seems GUI is available on HDMI connection & not Composite.Let other confirm,may Santy.With 667,its not issue.

it seems pretty obvious from what you have noted that it is not supposed to work. Same is confirmed in the Troubleshooting section in the manual.

As stated in flowchart on manual's p-16. If one does not have an HDMI input jack, follow instructions on page-20. which demonstrate "monitor out" method. This condradicts the above statement that in case of "monitor out" TV ops wont work.

Secondly, whats the point of having "monitor out" then?
Any ways, I am exploring options to use my Lenovo laptop which has HDMI input i guess.
May explore to use Samsung Galaxy Tab if I get HDMI cable for it.

Called up Yamaha support @ gurgaon. Confirmed that non-hdmi outputs will not provide GUI display. I'll try HDMI to VGA / Component cable.
