New member. I would like to get advice on an AVR. I currently have two Klipsch KF30, a Klipsch SW112 sub, Klipsch center, and two Klipsch S10 rear speakers. I am a total newbie on quality sound systems. I originally bought a Onkyo 616. The sound was good, but after a few days of ownership, the dreaded HDMI issue arose. No video, audio only. I returned the Onkyo for a Yamaha 673. It seems to have no issues, but with my speaker setup, I was not as happy as I was sound-wise with the Onkyo. I still have a few weeks to return the Yamaha.

I have considered getting a Marantz SR5007. Sound-wise and quality-wise, would this be a step up from the Onkyo 616 and Yamaha 673? Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I will see if I can. Just curious what other more knowledgable people think of the marantz receiver. In your opinion, is this typically considered a better receiver than the 616 Onkyo or 673 Yamaha?

yes, marantz reciever is considered better by maximum number of persons, thats true.still a persons preference about sound signature varies from individuals....so demo is very important.your usage(movie/music)....also important.

Yamaha,Marantz & Onkyo all three can go with klipsch. Yamaha should be the perfect match for the movies & need to proper calibration.Did you try YAPO?
Marantz also sounds good with Klipsch.Denon was very warm when we heard in Mumbai meeting.Still with multieq XT,it adjusts some parameters to make sound better.
So its better that you try to take demo with your speakers.

Yes...With Marantz you have the benefit of very good stereo first & then Multi channel surround....

If movies is you priority, then Yamaha & Onkyo both do wonderful jobs....Itz not that Yamaha / Onkyo does not produce stereo good, but Marantz receiver would easily beat them for stereo....

I haven't checked the Denon receivers.. so can't comment abt their performance...
