Hi all,

It would be great to have a little help on hooking up my new FAT+ media player with my receiver and LCD.

I was thinking of connecting the FAT+ to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver and hooking up the HDMI out from the receiver to the TV. I am a little concerned about the audio being delivered through a single HDMI cable.

Would this setup show my video on TV as well as process 5.1 audio through the receiver? The receiver is a onkyo 3400 HTIB

Was also contemplating on getting the audio out through an optical cable, but i suppose, optical wont play a DTS channel but only 5.1 Digital Dolby. (Correct me if I am wrong please)

Thank you in advance -
cheers

The first method you wrote is the right way to connect your media player, htib and tv. HDMI can carry both audio and video. There is no need for additional optical cable.
