Hello HT friends,
I am new at this forum and hoping that HT experienced users can provide some help with selecting the appropriate equipment as well as as HT room design and location of "right" vendors in the NCR region for HT equipment (Speakers, cables, projector mounts, etc.). Here's what I have and what I need:
The HT will be in a 21'X21' room in the basement. However the room is not square. Please see the attached PDF file for room shape and measurements. The room has no windows at all and is pitch black. Room has concrete walls with marble floor and a 10 foot ceiling. I am planning to carpet the floor and put a 2X2 foot square drop tiles to build a false ceiling so that I can use the space above for all wiring. Also, are there any reasonable vendors for ceiling tiles that are suited for HT acoustics that I should consider? Looking for acoustically making the room HT friendly. Wood for floor, walls and ceiling is not an option as the area (Gurgaon) is plagued with termite problem. I was thinking about hanging drapes on the walls for taking care of some sound reflections but would welcome any other ideas out there.
Now coming to the equipment:
For the Projector I have already invested in a Panasonic AE4000U but need a reference to a vendor or an installer who can provide/install a ceiling mount for this projector.
I also have invested in a Marantz SR6004 receiver and now need recommendation/expert advice for a 5.1 speaker system. Not too keen to get started with a 7.1 system due to room shape and may consider adding 2 speakers later. My question is what will mate well with the Marantz receiver and the room size in terms of a 5.1 speakers, source of this equipment in NCR region and price of this. I have a budget of 1L to 1.5L for speakers and cabling etc.
I also have a Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blue ray DVD player, which I plan to use as source.
I am also looking for advice on a screen. Leaning towards a fixed screen but need information on "right" vendor and source for this. For this size room I was considering a 130" diagonal screen. Any thoughts on this? Also, does anyone out there has some experience with a white painted "home made" screen on a very smooth POP wall?
I am eagerly looking forward to inputs and advice to my queries and sorry for the rather long first post.
Cheers!
Rajeev
