Friends, I have been compelled to look for a pair of BS - to replace my 9.6s. I settled on the Klipsch RS 51 II B ( I could not get an audition of the MS Aviano II which was also recommended) as I like a strong Bass line.

I thought I would add some punch into the system by getting a Sub - and right now, I have a Klipsch 350 on trial. As I have never used a sub before, I found myself frequently scrambling to adjust the volume and phase settings, which unfortunately is on the rear of the set and not convenient to reach.

My queries :
1. Does all Subs need to be tweaked constantly or can one find an acceptable setting
2. Are there any Subs with remote for tuning / set up change

3. I am also looking for a suitable amp. (right now I have a Denon PMA 500).
I would prefer a straight stereo - but would be open to a good AVR.
any recommendations ? I would like to keep the budget around 50K for both the sub and amp.Thank you for any help!

Replacing 9.6 with and adding a BS with a sub... not a good idea... I believe 9.6 has ample bass.
1. Yes, Subs need to be tweaked for music setups.
2. Polk Audio DSW series are equipped with remote and even The wharfedale SW250 come with a remote for tweaking.

Friends, I have been compelled to look for a pair of BS - to replace my 9.6s. I settled on the Klipsch RS 51 II B i think you meant RB 51 II B ( I could not get an audition of the MS Aviano II which was also recommended) as I like a strong Bass line.

Make sure that you have wired both L/R channel (RB 51's) with correct polarity, once properly configured you should not have phase issues.

My queries :
1. Does all Subs need to be tweaked constantly or can one find an acceptable setting. Yes you should find one acceptable setting and since you bought Bookshleves, i'd set the crossover around 50-60 hz on the avr and let sub handle down below, another option could be to let the Book shelves run on full bandwidth and feed the Preout of L/R channels to sub since i think you are doing 2 channel only.

2. Are there any Subs with remote for tuning / set up change
Yes there are, infact the earlier Ref series subs from klipsch had IR sensor on them.

3. I am also looking for a suitable amp. (right now I have a Denon PMA 500).

Thanks guys. Yahoo0212, I am compelled to change speakers for reasons of space : I am reluctant to part with my 9.6s, but sadly, I have to.

I was told the Wahrfedale Subs are not a match on Klipsch / others. I did try a couple of others -but still not really happy.

I have connected the sub to the REC out as the PMA 500 does not have a pre-out, just to get a rough idea of what a Sub could do -while I am not happy with the 350 - I thought I would upgrade the amp too.

using the sub with rec out might not have been the best option, see if the sub accepts high level inputs and if it does try feeding it the same.
