Hi,
I have been on this forum for the past 6 months, and everyday i see some new audio equipment, some new parameters related to sound quality and equipment design, most of which is beyond my limited understanding.
So i request our forum members to share some links/ articles/ magazines which can help me understand the basics of:
1. design of various audio components: speakers, amplifiers etc. how to understand the electronics under the hood, understand the impact of various changes made in the design process etc.
2. how to judge quality and sound of various equipments
3. anything else you might think is relevant to understanding the basics

i am a complete novice when it comes to understanding electronics, but this forum has made all this seem so interesting that i want to learn as much as possible, so please share anything and everything you might think is relevant

TIA :)

Hi anandk2710

As per your joined date (Jun 2017) you are 2 months...unless you have been reading various posts through google for the last 6 months.....

Yes there is a lot to learn and how much you want to learn.....end of the day...it all depends what you want to accept and retain as knowledge...

There is a lot available over internet.....CNET, Audioholics , What Hi Fi etc....ample information, guidance etc...

You can also read the various threads on this forum which have rich information....

1. design of various audio components: speakers, amplifiers etc. how to understand the electronics under the hood, understand the impact of various changes made in the design process etc. - Look at DIY threads
2. how to judge quality and sound of various equipments - Look at What Should I buy / Owners Threads
3. anything else you might think is relevant to understanding the basics - Keep Reading various posts...thats how you can enhance your understanding and knowledge....

All the best!

My approach has been this, before diving into the technicalities you need to go and audition, audition, audition, audition and finally, audition again!

Once you've auditioned enough of a variety of things, you will start to form your own understanding of the tech, then once you form a basic hypothesis of certain things, audition, audition, audition again.

Rinse and repeat, and in this process you'll find the research you do is more meaningful and more accurate and tailored to your preferences. and that that point you'll find you understand the technicalities of sound already :)
