How does one send an electronic item from India to the US or any other country for service? Ideally, most US companies that are into direct selling would give a RMA number and once you ship it there, they ship it back on their costs.

I checked with Aramex and they said they cannot send any electronic item from India to the US (they can get it from US to India through their other service).

So how does one do it other than physically traveling with it.

I have a few items like my player (Oppo), my amps (Emotiva) and sub (Deftech) which I have got from the US, so would appreciate if people have knowledge or experiences that they can share.

Hi!
I have sent my phono cartridge and my earlier phono stage to the US... not due to the complications in the policies here, one has to resort to the loopholes...

what i did was to simply send the item out as a gift. so, effectively when the servoce centre gets the package, they do the needful and then on insturuction, send the package back - clearly marked as a gift.

that usually works! i am in the process of recieveing my Cartridge, re-tipped from soundsmith USA and this is exactly how I went about it.

if for any reason it gets held up at customs, i will have to be obstinate and say that it is a gift from my sister!

It will work even on bigger items bro... just ensure that you get the workshop or service centre to mark it as a gift under 4k... or USD 100. ask them also to send you an email that says something like "gift for borthday" or some other function! carry those papers with you if called to customs!

they may still charge you something but negotiating helps!
