How can I get 5.1 Channel audio output by hooking Sony MHC GN 77D, 5.1(DVD Home Theatre) up with Panasonic Blu Ray Player DMP BD 85 K

DVD Home Theatre Sony MHC GN 77D has DVD DIGITAL OUT (optical) jack which says (as per manual) "there is no digital audio output from this jack during playback of a DVD, Video CD or MP3 audio tracks". The HDMI cable 1.3 will be connected from Blu Ray Player to Plasma TV to get high resolution videos. But my problem is that I want (audio) 5.1 channel output from Sony DVD Home theatre via Blu Ray player. Sony DVD Home theatre has MD/Video (Audio) IN jacks but it can only provide 2 channels (Stereo) where as on the other hand the Blu Ray Player has Optical/Coaxial, Analog Outputs (7.1 channel) ports.Pl advice.
