Dear Friends,

I recently bought HTS3300 (Thanks Nikhil). My first hifi system.
I have done all cabling using white soft OFC speaker wire (100rs meter, cant recollect the brand name)

I have following things ..

Onkyo HTS3300
Samsung 32 lcd with 2 HDMI inputs.
Airtel HD DTH connection.
Philips 5.1 DVD with USB input
Desktop PC with HDMI graphics card near HTS System (200+ 720p movies on it)

I need help in planning the connections because I am renovating my house.

This is what I can think of so far ..

1 point of regular TV cable (black round wire from Airtel DTH)
1 HDMI wire ( From TV to HTS 3300)
1 HDMI wire (From TV to Airtel DTH)
1 HDMI wire ( From TV to PC graphics card)

If I want to play movies from my PC through HTS + TV, what connections I need?

Do I need to pass DTH output to HTS?

Thanks for all your help

Richard

HDMI PC> 3300> LCD connection with HDMI which will carry audio/video both.

Do I need to pass DTH output to HTS?Richard

Connect DTH HDMI to LCD directly.Add coax/optical cable ,connect DTH to HTS.
Doing this you can get audio from LCD as well as HTS & you can select as per your choice.

Suggested connections for getting DTS/DD or any other sound signals from the above mentioned sources

1. Airtel HD DTH connection -> HDMI -> Onkyo -> HDMI -> TV
2. PC -> HDMI -> Onkyo -> HDMI ->TV
3. Phillips DVD Player with USB -> Digital Co-axial cable -> Onkyo
Phillips DVD Player with USB -> Component -> TV

Please check if your DVD player supports HDMI or Optical out. If HDMI is there then Phillips -> HDMI -> Onkyo -> HDMI -> TV else replace above indicated Co-axial with Optical. My Phillips DVD player has only coaxial out. Using these you will be able to hear DD 5.1 or DTS whatever format is encoded on your DVDs. Make sure to change audio output setup in DVD player to Digital.

Enjoy!
