ICE upgrade for Chevy Cruze

Here is is my current setup :
Cruze comes with 4 in built head unit and 4 speakers on 4 doors.
I had fitted a pair of 300W speakers (JBL 948) in 2010.

Now I want to upgrade with a pair of 600W Pioneer speakers, since JBL don't have any 600W options.

And I want to put one sub woofer as well. Which one do you suggest?
Also which ampflier?
2 or 4 channel?
How much total power output?

I have seen a JBL sub woofer 1150W.
So total power consumption is 1750W?
So which amplifier will drive both?

I will let the door speakers to stay as it is. Will it also handle the 600W speakers or I need to connect those speakers to the amplifier as well?

If you doors would start rattling than u have to go for damping ,
Do check if your speakers are installed using the wooden ring in the doors

Yes the speakers should be connected to amp.

Speakers in door starts rattle at high volumes so for that damping is the only option

So just get the doors damped for the 4 door speakers ?

Go for a components in fronts from Rockford Infinity like
And a good 4 channel amp
And sub
Use amps 2 Chanel for fronts and 2 for sub......connect the rear direct with head units

1. I dont think, its wise to change the door speakers, since its very hard to sell speakers used speakers online. So, I dont want an extra expenditure. Im fine with the existing door speakers.

2. Which 4 channel amp do you suggest ?

3. Which sub woofer ?

Ok if u don't want to change the pre installed speakers than u need a four Chanel amp for each spkrs
1question than why are u looking for speakers

Now 2 options
A 4 Chanel amp for 4 door spkrs and a mono amp for sub

B 2 Chanel for front spkrs and 2 Chanel's for sub


I have used the smillar amp,good VFM have enough punch

Yes u need a good cables kit range 1.5 to 2k + 400/500 rs for installation

Right now, the 4 door speakers and the 2 rear speakers are directly connected to the inbuilt Head Unit.

I think, I dont need to touch the door 4 speakers connectivity.

I will put take the rear speaker terminals and put for 2 channels on the amp.

And other 2 channels for the sub woofer.

I think, it will do ?

I think u will need amp for door spkrs as well

I think, it will be fine leaving behind the 4 door speakers connected to the HU as it is.

Just connect 4 channel amp, connect 2 to sub and 2 to rear.

Thats all.

Yes you can connect 2 channels to the woofer and 2 channels to the rear speakers, but dont you think that you will be compromising on the SQ in this way. When you will drive, you will be sitting on the front seat, so thats where you want SQ, so rather than just connecting one pair of speakers to the amp.,buy a cheap 4-ch amp for the speakers and a costly 2-ch amp or as suggested earlier a mono-block for the sub-woofer. Also you will have to buy an enclosure for the Sub woofer,which will set you back by approx 2k.

I mean, how does that affect the SQ, if I dont connect the amps to the door speakers ?

They are already playing good .

Why do we need to inject more power to them ?

They are playing good because they are the one producing everything including Bass,Treble etc.
Once you add a SUB,the speakers will become inaudible because of the High Bass of the SUB.
So it is advised that you should connect the speakers to the amp. so that you get out the maximum potential of the speakers.

Not really. People have 2 amps in Swifts. So you can proceed without any problems.
If you have budget constraints then first install your SUB and an amp, if you think that the SQ is good you can just keep it like that.
