Import Denon 1911 from UK.. Need help

Richer Sounds UK is selling Denon 1911 for 199 pounds... Well is there any
price-effective way to import it to India... My friends are there, so they can make the purchase but how can it be imported to india??

1. Will there be any Duty levied on this.... As this is jut a 199 pound item

2. Total weight is about 11Kgs...

3. What would be the costs for shipping etc... ?

Please guide thru this... I am not worried about warranty.. because the deal itself is so good... :licklips:

If your friends buy it and ship the product, you will pay the shipping charges + 26.5% Duty charges because the price is above 10K.

To get an indicative price of the total charges, please go to Amazon UK site and proceed till the end. When you are at the last page where you place the order, it will give you the shipping + Customs + Product price break-up, you can get an idea from there.

is this new or a refurb? i saw a refurb denon 1910 a few days back for 149 pounds.

Make that extra amount around 6K... you could procure a 1911 from India for around 35-36K...

This 199 deal is for a display/ refurbished unit and they may not even come with remote and other accessories. I know because i hunted for denon 1911 yesterday only in london/ Richersound

Its a fresh piece at Milton Keynes with remote box and all other accessories... I already enquired if its a Refurb/Return product..

I think, items less than 10,000INR sent to you as gift by your friend abroad will not atract duty.Check this up.

Now before people make conclusions, let me advise you that customs department is very smart. If someone abroad sends someone in India a gift and values it less than Rs. 10,000, they (the customs) may not accept the valuation if they feel it is undervalued.

For the same reason they may not accept the 199 valuation even if you produce the receipt.

The best way to import such items is to bring it along in accompanied baggage. With Rs. 25,000 as standard duty exemption, one can pay the duty (30%) on the balance and get everything. I imported my Onkyo TX-DS747 valued at AED 2999 (in 1999), paid Rs. 2,400 as official duty.
