Ha ha, jazz was the first genre of music I have heard as a new born. I was brought up with it and I am stuck to it like glue.

But the vintage Jazz genre which was called modern jazz back in the 50’s and 60’s had beats and rhythms which were very regular/consistent timing wise. As a matter of fact such drummers and bassists were worth their weight in gold back then. Especially Bossa Nova specialists.

So why hold off ?
