India-UK FTA

One retail guy once calculated foreign retail price + customs + shipping and few other charges + some bribe he has to pay + all the sorrow and other horror he has to endure which equated to about 2.5 times of foreign retail!
I refuse to do business with such dealers. The previous D&D of Bryston in India had a similar pricing structure. Needless to say he was dropped and the new distributor has better pricing.
Cheers,
Sid

There are quite a few good dealers where you sense good intentions and integrity. Same here. I have always given my business to them only.

I just do not like the Harbeth distributor in India - absolutely insane pricing and snooty to boot. Folks are willing to spend if you give a fair deal to them and not charging extortionate prices. Pity there are some more decent brands with them which a lot of folks will have to stay away from.

All in all I do hope some benefits flow through for end consumers from this!

jhonnie walker blue lab

johnnie walker blue label will also get price cut?

According to the press release “Tariff on alcohol such as Scotch whisky and gin will come down from 150% to 75% and further to 40% over a period of 10 years”

So, in ten years, a 10 year aged bottle of scotch will only cost 40% more than the retail price in the UK. Plus transportation and associated retail costs. And maybe GST…? but for now 75%…

Buy directly atleast from the UK... It's upto us to make or break brands and people...

Sir, a bottle of Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray costs about 1400-1500 rupees in Haryana.. If the customs duty is halved immediately, it is assumed that the prices come down by 200-300 rupees... The silly Indian Gin brands cost upwards of Rs. 1800 in Haryana.. So overall alcohol related inflation will come down all across... American Bourbon will also become a lot cheaper ... Haryana does have some benefits vis a vis the rest of the country...

I foresee a mass migration into Haryana in the coming days!

HiFi Gear Made in China goes to UK and then from UK to India ? OR is it directly from China to India ? .

I am not sure if this FTA will have any impact .

FTA with China , Taiwan , Japan will have some impact on Audio prices
