Caution Horses album is more introspective and hopefully, folksy enough to the liking of the OP...

This album is great. The songs are desperately sad and romantic. Thank you!

besides Dylan, Guthrie ...some other 'folk' acts i have liked/listened are Canned Heat and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band etc
also Canadian acts like Cowboy Junkies and Blue Rodeo...


the link was of a Cowboy Junkies cover of the famous Velvet Underground number...but their Caution Horses album is more introspective and hopefully, folksy enough to the liking of the OP...
