Interesting thread on DSD on CA

Definitely interesting Square. I have not done any listening on a DSD dac (will be getting one in July), so I don't have any opinions, but I certainly have opinions on 16/44.1, 24/96 & 24/192. Simply put I have heard recordings in all of these resolutions better one another, so at-least to me in these there are no absolutes. I will add DSD to that list in a couple of months but I suspect my answer will be similar as I heard some pretty average SACD's in the past.
Cheers,
Sid

A dsd recording created from 24/96 pcm makes zero sense to be honest. I have no idea why anyone would want to do that and sell it for more money. Use pcm and listen on a multibit ladder dac.

I have been following that thread from day one and it has now just become acrimonious.
There were some fantastic contributions from some members but it's now down to name calling etc.

All I know is a natively recorded dsd track sounds more organic. If you have heard a lot of live instruments the dsd to me sounds truer. Also digital is low. Depends on the kind of music and your dac and equipment as well of course.

Yes the thread was quite fun... for a while only though!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
