iPad for SPL measurements

Can ipad be used to take SPL measurements, draw frequency curves etc?
What are the good apps that can be used to fine tune an audio system?

mic on ipad may not be good enough to measure frequency extremes, any experiences?

I use and Android phone, and use Sound Meter. A friend who uses an iPhone liked it, and found an iOS app that does the same (so I'm sure there must be an iPad app).

We once compared measurements together, and our measurements (Desire HD vs. iPhone 3GS) were off by 1-2dB. So I doubt if the measurements (SW/HW) are that accurate. But for a quick & dirty check, it is a handy tool

Yep, I remember Jeremy Clarkson using the spl meter on his iPhone in one episode of Top Gear to compare the exhaust notes of a Lambo, Ferrari etc.

However if you can use an external quality earphone mic the results may astound you.

Results with ipad 2 are better than iphone 4.(Not sure about the iphone 4 S )

Do you use a tripod? did you compare the results between ipad and a normal comp?
