iPhone Vs iPod touch

Can any body, who has actually used both the products, tell me which one is more musical? Is it that both iPhone and iPod touch has same music quality or ipod touch is better as it's a dedicated music device.
The question might sound stupid but then let it be, as I need to know the answer

i think both are same with regards to sq. you can use either with a fiio e1 to improve sq.

Even I thought the same way. However, still wanted to confirm with somebody who has actually heard both of them. As it costs lot of $$$ to buy these toys , I am planning to take a used one for a year or lesser.

i have used iPhone 3GS 16GB and iPod 2G 8Gigs there is no difference in sound quality both impressed me very well
The Difference is iPhone has a phone GPS and a Compass thats it
other than that it is same
iPod 4 has a Retina Display
i hope to get a iPhone 4 coming June as i would be moving abroad for studies

I have used iphone in past and using ipod touch 3gs now. frankly there is only one major diff between these two tht ipod touch is not a phone (though u can make calls using skype). SQ/PQ for music, games, videos is same.
I would suggest to go for ipod touch as it'll save u quite a few bucks.

My personal advice is getting a iPhone even if it cost you bucks more
i felt bad when carrying both my normal nokia phone and iPod touch where ever i go and even my pocket is weight so i sold my iPod
And iPhone will pick up the attention of others when you use it

Exactly, I was carrying around my E71 and iPod touch of my cousin with lot of difficulties. Thats why this question of comparision between two. So, if the sound quality is same, I can dispose my E71 and take an iPhone instead.

You can demo all the Ipods in apple store or Hyper city. Not sure of the Iphone. Apple store should have demo of that too (hyper city dont).

Actually I was using my cousin's ipod since sometimes and just loved the sound quality. So was making up mind as to whether to go for ipod or iphone for me. If the sound quality is same for both, I'll go for iphone so as to avoid carrying two separate toys.

Oh, after such a long time there is some activity here. Just to update the thread, I have changed from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S since then. In fact, bought one iPod touch as well during the same period and didn't find any difference in sound quality even if it might be there.

both sucks big time. I have iPhone 3GS and iPad. The DAC is decent. The head phone out is pathetic. If you can get the line out, then it is way better.

ipod touch is much better. I am also using apple ipod but there is no touch facility on it. The major reason behind ipod touch popularity is advertisement and due to advertisement lots of people start buying and copy other people and so on..

I have owned 4 Apple Products.

1. iPod Touch 32GB - Okay Sound Quality
2. iPod 80GB Classic - A litte better than Touch
3. iPod 2G Nano 2GB / 5G 30GB Video - Best Sound Quality. Probably b'coz they have Wolfson DAC's.

I still use 2G Nano 2GB / 5G 30GB Video iPods for my daily music use. In fact, I also use Rockbox on these iPods and sound quality is even better. Rockbox can also play FLAC's and copying the songs in Rockbox is as simple as Drag n Drop.
