Hi,

Do you think a one year old Wharfedale SW150 subwoofer worth 14K when the new piece is about 17K?

Mods,

I am not sure if I can post a price related question thread here. If not please move it to the appropriate one.

Thanks!
Anish

If its a well-maintained set, thats a decent price to ask IMHO....think from the seller's shoe as to what u would ask for in such a case.

Imrahn,

Is 3K saving a marginal amount that I save while loosing an year warranty on the new piece? Yeah, from the seller perspective anything below what he/she paid is not good for the seller, I agree.

Thanks!
Anish

when yo can afford 14K why dont yu pull out 3K more from your pocket and buy Brand new and with one year warranty

agree with prithvi. Unless it is at a throwaway price (which in this case, it is not), it is better to shell out 3k more and get a new one with warranty, if only for peace of mind.

First of all, am not sure whether u can get the sub for under 18k these days....but even if it is, around 25% discount is decent enough is what i meant, for a one year old sub if maintained well.

If u have the means to pull out 18k,thats the best option for sure....but i think i saw u mentioning 8-10k as budget for the sub and if u are really stretching the limit, 13-14k is a good deal IMHO.

That's the sad part of Indian sales. Because people in India think any thing has to be bought after discounts the companies also play accordingly. Put a higher MRP and say a discounted price to customer. You approach any Wharf dealer they say 21K+ or - and then some tell you discount of 10 to 15% and some dealers say this only when customer asks. In Bangalore Vector quotes 10% outright and Total sound quotes 15%. If you ask Vector again they comes to 15%. This may be the same case with some other countries like US where store prices is much higher compared to amazon prices.

Imrahn,

So how do you judge a well maintained sub?

Though Wharf dealers first quote 17.5K after hard negotiations they comes to 17.25K. Another option of similar pricing is Sonodyne Roarr 210 which is sold for about 15K. Though I haven't seen or heard generally people say its as good as SW150. But I would like to stick with SW as Wharf quality is matchless at this price range. So the only question remains is 13-14K or 17K for a year warranty.

The answer lies with u and u alone mate....if u think 3-4k is not a substantial amount and not worth the risk, get a new one.Performance of the used sub would be similar to a new one, so just act as per ur perception of the amount/warranty.

Happy subbing!!! :)

Hi alexanish,

Pls assist me, where can i get Sonodyne Roar 210 for 15 K. In chennai, Roar 210 cost around 16.5k to 17 K.

Thanks in advance.

Vijay,

I just spoke to Bangalore Sonodyne dealer over the phone. The price he quoted is 16.5 and asked me to drop in for audition. I said unless you talk about a better deal I can't come over because the area were he runs the shop is peak traffic area any day time. For that he promised he can work some thing closer to 15K. Probably 15K+250 or so.

The dealer number can be found in sonodyne website.

Thanks!

Hey Guys,
Could you please suggest a good resale price for my Wharfedale 9.6's and 10.7 CM center. They are about 45 days to 2 months old. I intend to pick up Dali ikon 6's.
Kindly suggest and also to mention that I cannot start a new thread as I am yet new to the forum.

Thanks,
Amit

Sw 150 solution is straight n easy.
You were living without a sub so far.. Live like that for 2 more months.
In absence of any takers, the seller may reduce price or may cancel the sale.
If he reduces, get it at the lower price. If he doesnt, get new or keep fingers crossed for better pc. Elsewhere.
Do not quote your best offer just tell him you aren t interested at this price.
In my opinion 14k inr inclusive of shipping isnt bad. Further savings wont hurt too.
BUT- if you get an unsuitable/ill fitting/inappropriate equipment and then decide to change it, you lose more $$$.
So make your mind up on choice of sub. You ll forget the price sooner or later.

Put them in the sale section and mention the price for which you had purchased and the price you are expecting. Sell them at the max. offer. If you are lucky they may be purchsed as per your quote, if the purchaser/member feel the price is reasonable to him.

45 days is a short journey.... However I advice you to use them for more time and sell it . Or check with dealer for buy-back / upgrade options .... :)
