I agree that better amplifier can improve the SQ somewhat. But if you don't like the sound of LS50 with Denon or Yamaha, you would not like it with Rotel, Adcom or others either. It is a cleaner sound and a bit antiseptic. People who like warmer sound with full bass may not like it. It is best for listening to Jazz trios but not for full band orchestra. Go for R300 if your music is fuller with wide frequency range. I think the clarity you hear in vocals in ls50 is partially because it does not have frequencies below 60 hz.

The LS50s are dealt by Profx and they offer it for a pretty decent price I believe - somewhere in the range of 90k I was told.
