I have a KWorld Global TV 7131 internal TV tuner card.
The problem is, it doesn't scan all the channels. At the most I get 37 channels.
I tried a lot of softwares. All of them behave similarly. I guess it s a problem with the WDM driver.
Anybody heard about any such issues?

Also, what would be the difference in picture quality between a TV Box and a TV Tuner (external or internal)?

I guess the issue is - the cable TV is transmitted on the S-Band as well as the normal VHF/UHF bands cannot accommodate a lot of channels by themselves. Your card might not be tuning those channels on S-Band...but only VHF/UHF ones.

See here for frequency range: Television Frequency Table

That was the first thing I checked.
It does scan all the frequency ranges. I can see all the 100+ channels on my TV but the TV tuner card is not able to catch them. I think the TV tuner card is not storing the channels it deems poor quality, which the regular TV is catching.
The picture quality is better in the TV for the same channels as compared to the TV tuner card. (poor quality = grainy and what not)

Here is the list of scanned channels. It starts scanning from 4000000 Hz (40 MHz) to 865000000 Hz (865 MHz) with a step of 0.25 MHz.

Channel 1 is set to 48250000 Hz
Channel 2 is set to 55250000 Hz
Channel 3 is set to 62250000 Hz

Channel 31 is set to 303250000 Hz
Channel 32 is set to 535250000 Hz

Thats all.

Yes this could be the issue. My Samsung 29" CRT scans and stores all channels...but my neighbour's Sony doesnt...it does shows those Chanels while scanning but never stores them.

Exactly.
Sometimes I can see the some channels while in Auto Scan, but it skips them thinking them as poor quality ones.
Tested it today with a different external TV tuner. Same problem.
So I guess the problem lies in the cable itself.
