Hi everyone, although it might sound little too futuristic for indian SONY enthusiasts as far as available models from sony at present in indian market,I thought it would be an opportunity to discuss the ones available outside India.

The comparison here would be between SONY and the top players in AV market like YAMAHA,DENON,PIONEER,ONKYO and the likes.

It would be better if we all throw more light on these recievers along with features most desired and against the price for which they can be purchased from india as well as from outside.

Sony receivers are not popular in India at all. In addition, I have never seen any good receiver in any Sony shop, though I have seen a few in second level shops and in grey market.

It will take Sony a long time to compete with Denon, Onkyo, and Yamaha in the receiver market. Excepting for a few extremely expensive players and amplifiers, Sony has been popular in the 2/3 in one markets, as far as amplifiers go.

Cheers

Sony is good for people who think that sound is enough
For a Good HT setup Sony is not recomended as far i consult

SONY does make some good Amplifiers and Receivers but unfortunately they are not available in India. I have been happily using SONY F590ES Amplifier for last 16 years with BOSE 301 series III speaker system and it gives a great output. I am not an audiophile but do have sharp ears for good quality sound that I can differentiate easily from noise.

Regards.

Hello everyone.Does anyone know about the price of Sony STR DN 2010 AV receiver?

Hi Aby,

Before you go for any Audio/Video equipment brand you have to think of the after sales service also. Many of us get their receivers from abroad ... so no warranty but service is available which is important. I don't think Sony India sells receivers ... so I don't know if they will service it in case (god forbid) it goes wrong ....

So, you can't get STR DN 2010 (which is an excellent receiver) from a Sony World show room. Some AV dealers may get it imported for you from UK, Singapore, Dubai etc but you need to check about the warranty and after-sales service with him. Accordingly the price quote you get from them will b different :)

If you plan to get it from US through borderlinx (etc) it will cost you around 44K.

CHEERS

Sony ES range used to make some of the best amplifiers in the audio industry but now ES range is very difficult to find as Sony has moved a lot to movie production and video gaming industry.I still miss some very high end audio products made by Sony which are no more available.

Thank you Binaya, I am solely looking for the sony AVR owing to its Bravia sync feature and besides they make good products which flawlessly work for years unless they have some glitchy firmware.

Dont know as yet the warranty issues,But will perhaps wait for sometime before settling downfor one.

I really liked Yamaha too but Sync is something i am equally interested.

Thanks for the support mate,Hope keeping this thread alive would not be difficult and people at sony do some research on this and come up with some solid AVRs for INDIA.

I seriously hate Sony for this! My house is a Sony house. Just went through Sony' intl website and found lovely AV receivers, STR DN1010 7.1, Amazon selling it for 350-400USD but cnt get it delivered in India.

Hope Sony launches its Prosumer audio systems soon in india.

You can still get it for Rs.29700 delivered to India-
Amazon.com: Used and New: Sony STR-DN1010 7.1-Channel A/V Blu-Ray Receiver [3D Compatible]

Write to shopyourworld & check.

Thanks for the input! I have tried it. waiting for their reply. But at 30k INR i think we can get betr deals. I jst chked out Onkyo HT 9300 systems, 7.1 THX certified with 8 speakers (2Front, 2Surround, 2Back Surround, Center and a 12inch sub ) for 55k as per their site. I think the retailers will offer some discount.

will chk both the option and post here.

cheers!
