Hi,

I recently purchased LG 42LB5820 LED TV on Flipkart Billion Day Sale.
Has anyone purchased this tv so far? If yes please provide your feedback on the TV, mainly regarding the picture quality and the smart platform.

Also,Will there be an softtware upgrade to WebOs Platform.

I am using this TV for past 3-4 months and I am happy with the product :yahoo:

I too have got it from flipkart and I didn't face any issues as such in terms of delivery / installation from LG etc.

I liked many smart features this TV has including operating it via my android phone. Also you can view the content of the TV on your phone from a different room of your house (there may be few seconds lag). It plays almost all video formats I have thrown in. I have also tried displaying my laptop / mobile screen on the TV through wifi and it was breeze.

All in all, quite happy with the product. full thumbs up for this product from LG :clapping:

Some more Questions
(Background: I am upgrading from CRT TV<19 years old > which doesn't work without Hathway cable box)

1.How is the sound quality? The viewing distance is around 11~12 ft(Living room size is 14X18).Is it suggested to buy an Sound Bar to have better audio experience.

2.Is is suggested to upgrade to HD DTH box to have a better Cinematic experience.

3.Any idea will there be an WebOS upgrade for this TV?(Similar query was there in lgwebos forum)

1. Sound quality is good. I did not had to to change the speakers to hear sound from SD cable channels. I may use my HT if I go for HD channels in near future. There is no need to go for soundbar to watch TV channels. the viewing distance is fine

2. I did not feel that. Infact i felt some of the SD channels (hindi) clarity is so good, sometimes i wonder, there is no need to upgrade to DTH HD Channels.

3. There is software upgrade option and so far it says you have latest updates. I am sure they would release in case they find some issues in it. As of now, I did not face any lag anywhere.

Finally TV was delivered on Friday :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
Setup was a breeze.

1. Sound quality is good. I did not had to to change the speakers to hear sound from SD cable channels. I may use my HT if I go for HD channels in near future. There is no need to go for soundbar to watch TV channels. the viewing distance is fine

Sound quality is good when playing from USB and YouTube video. However audio is low and less clear when playing cable channels connected to hathway box.Need to replace box and check if it resolves the issue.

Clarity is good playing YouTube and USB videos.:clapping::clapping::clapping:
However the videos feel a little cartoonish (feels video is in 2x speed) when playing cable channels. Again will have to replace the box and check.

3. There is software upgrade option and so far it says you have latest updates. I am sure they would release in case they find some issues in it. As of now, I did not face any lag anywhere.

Overall its a huge upgrade to move from CRT to LED TV.

Had some more concerns.
1. How do we check if this is not a demo piece? any code to confirm the no
of Hours tv was on.(The TV is clean without any fingerprints.box came sealed but the tape used to sealed did not have any LG logo)

2.When i press back button(on normal remote/not smart remote) when playing you tube, the Tv screen goes blank and doesn't display anything until i switch off and switch on the TV.

If u scroll down there are 17 reviews and these appear to be genuine.
Can anyone tell me if the picture is bright enough with normal tube light of 40 watts in a medium size room(10 by 15) as IPS is supposed to be less bright than VA of Sony/Samsung i.e. cable channels,DVD, USB playing etc.
How is browser experience when connected through wi fi router.

It's good. You can install lg app in your mobile to use browser in TV for easy handle. Or you have to buy magic remote.

The invoice price is 43.5K(47.5-4k for CRT TV exchange).I purchased it using citibank card, so there is an additional cash back of 2K.

I received the magic remote as part of the package.
On day of purchase flipkart product webpage mentioned Webcam as accessory list.However it was an error on their webpage and the camera has to be purchased seperately :sad:
The installataion guy quoted 4K for the LG webcam. Tried using a normal webcam but the TV did not detect it.

Picture quality is good however i feel that samsung/Sony has deeper Black levels.
Few more pointers.
1. The wifi signal is weak compared to my laptop/Mobile at the same location(2 bars vs 4 bars in mobile).Enquired with the service guy, but could not resolve the issue.

2. Youtube playing was smooth when playing youtube from browser than from app. Service person said that the app streams from the LG server and not directly from Google servers.

3.The service guy did not have any clue about OS upgrade.

Future Upgrades planned.
1. Planning to purchase Belkin Surge protector. I already have UPS backup at home(Luminous 900 VA)

2. Need to upgrade the SD Set-top box. Confused about Airtel/Tata Sky/SunDirect (majorly for Telugu /Tamil channels).

3.Purchase Google TV once it is available fro pre-order in USA.

Will update on the wall mount.
