A brand new LG showroom has opened in town. Visited this showroom and spent quite sometime looking at the 2009 lineup LCD / Plasma. Main concentration was on the 42" segment of LCD / Plasmas.
Very impressed with the features LG is providing in its 42" LCD / Plasmas. Particularly spent time on:

LG 42LH50 - LCD
LG 42PQ70 Plasma:
Very impressed. It almost has everything that one could think of:
600Hz, 0.001ms response time, 200,000:1 Dynamic Contrast, BLUETOOTH, DivX movie play capability thru' USB, USB 2.0, 3 HDMI inputs, Energy savings, intelligent sensor (similar to ambient sensors in SONYs), dual XD engine, picture freeze and a "single layer" design.
Viewed it for a quite a while with both SD, DVD & HD content. Very impressed. The colors looked very natural and the 42" screen for the price was very impressive!
Not really sure how to compare it with Panasonic PV8, G10 etc., since I have not had a demo of Panasonics.
But really, the crystal design and features were just too good, all for a price of about in the mid 40'sK. Really can't beat it from a feature, price aspect.
LG 42LH50 LCD:
Equally like the Plasma above, this LCD was also very impressive for the price. The features it had were so many that similar feature in a SONY would cost around the range of 1L+.
This LCD had TrueMotion 200Hz (similar to the 200Hz MotionFlow found in very high end SONYs), 2 ms response time (comparable to high end SONYs??) Full HD, could play DivX movies via USB, 150,000 Dynamic Contrast, 24p Real Cinema, IPS LCD Panel, Energy savings, Intelligent Sensor (similar to ambient light sensor in SONYs), 3 HDMI inputs.
All this for a price in the mid 60'sK. Wow, that is a bargain now.
What surprised me a bit was that the power consumption on the 42LH50 (LCD) was shown as 210W, while the 42PQ70 (Plasma) showed 200W. A Plasma actually showing so less was hard to believe. But maybe LG is also going strong on "green" and has managed to bring down the power consumption to 200W??
From a perspective of a videophile, maybe these sets could have scope of improvements?? However, for a regular Tata Sky viewer (SD content) and a weekend DVD / VCD movie kind of person, these sets at such prices with such great features are unbeatable!
In any case, for a budget of 45K to 65K, LG is certainly giving consumers a bang for the buck.
