Long Songs

I too read it as Love only to re-read it as long :p
Sorry, my bad. Blame it on late night and whiskey.

I am trying to make a playlist of songs(rock) with a playtime > 8mins, preferably live.
Can members suggest some (favourites).
Here is a starter list of some live songs (long-ish duration):
Dire Straits (Alchemy)
- Once Upon A Time In The West
- Sultans Of Swing
- Tunnel Of Love
- Telegraph Road

Eric Clapton (Unplugged)
- Old Love
Clapton and JJ Cale (Live in San Diego)
- Little Queen of Spades
Clapton and Steve Winwood (Live from MSG)

Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Free Bird

Peter Frampton (Frampton come Alive)

Southern Rock genre has many long tracks.
Gov't Mule is the best example - most of these guys have been into Jam rock - and hence the long track durations.

Some good suggestions above.
The ‘Mountain Jam’ live track from Allman Brother’s Eat a Peach. At over 25 mins , it covers entire side of an LP.
Also , the Freebird live version from LS’ One More From the Road LP.

if you go to youtube and type - Rock ballads or Glam Metal ballads, you'll find numerous playlists :)
similarly if you repeat this on google, you'll get exhaustive lists
If one is into rock ballads, one cannot afford to miss Glam Metal ballads, they just have so many hooks :)
Assumption: you like your ballads to be very dramatic, with a build up and grand finale, sandwiched with a ripping guitar solo

Long jams (eg. Grateful Dead , Allman Brothers Band ) are certainly good listening when one is in the mood for them.
The long songs of Dylan , where the duration is sustained by some stellar songwriting also have their appeal.
I prefer the latter , though meaningful ( subjective remark ) songs of this type are quite rare.

All of these on Led Zeppelin's How The West Was Won :
Stairway To Heaven
Dazed and Confused
Moby Dick
Whole Lotta Love
