Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and hoping to get some advice. I used to have a Sony BDP-S6700 and really liked it at first, but over time it started having problems with slow menus and occasional disc read errors. After dealing with it for a while, I realized it might be time to upgrade to something more reliable.

I’m looking for a Blu-ray player that works well for both movies and music. Good picture quality, smooth playback, and quiet operation are important to me. I also want it to handle different formats and regions without causing issues.

A few things I’m wondering about:
  1. Which current models give the best value for money?
  2. Are there brands that are known for long-lasting players and fewer disc errors?
  3. In the mid-range category, is there a noticeable difference in audio quality or are most players similar?
  4. Are there models I should avoid because of slow menus, noisy drives, or other common issues?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. If you’ve been using a Blu-ray player that’s reliable and works well, I’d love to know what you like about it. Any warnings about players to avoid are also helpful.

Thanks in advance for your advice. I’m excited to learn from the community.
