Hi guys!
I'm looking for my first hi-fi system for my bedroom(10*12). My budget is 20k. I stay in Chennai Ill be mostly using my iPod/iPhone/USB as source and the type of music which i hear is mostly Indian(Tamil and Hindi), Old Rock, Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop(High bass). Please suggest me stereo amp and speakers within this budget and also the place where I can buy them...Or should i go with hi-fi systems from brands like sony/philips as my budget is only 20k? I like hearing fatigue free music throughout the day and would like to hear distortion free music at high volume... I would also like to know some shops in Chennai where I can buy them at low price...Thanks in advance :)

20K is a good budget but not good enough to buy new hi-fi products in India....There is nothing called low price anywhere in India... All of the new Hi-Fi products in India cost a BOMB:ohyeah:

Two options here, either you increase your budget (or) look for used gear.

I would like to recommend Sonodyne Sonus 1501 BS (Approx 10K) Welcome To Sonodyne & get an used amplifier from Marantz/NAD or other brands for 10K.. So for 20K you will have a good system.....

Sonodyne has stereo amplifiers too.. Try your luck, you may end up lucky....

VIPUL AUDIO TECH, Chennai

Take you ipod/iphone there with your favourite songs, audition them & share your feedback...

BTW there are speakers from other brands...But really hard to pick a good BS speaker for 10K....

If there are any recommendations by other FM for speakers in 10K, do give them a listen & then decide....

Listen to as many products as you can & pick the one that you like the most...

I'm ready to extend my budget upto 25k if its really worth it... Gonna take some time auditioning as its gonna be my first system... And I'm quite good buying used up gears... With 25k budget and going for used gears what would be your suggestion(amp+speakers)?

Get a good solid amplifier which can bring the best out of any speaker.....Atleast 50W of continuos power output would do justice for any demanding bookshelf speakers....More power is always better...

My brother has NAD C326 stereo amplifier and i tried pairing with Diamond 9.2's, at less than 1/4 of the volume, it can make Wharfedale diamond 9.2 sing beautifully....

BTW i hope you would be listening to high quality MP3 (320 Kbps), FLAC & WAV files...

Wow... Does NAD C326 pair up better with the 9.2's than the Norge 2060? Yes deftly 320kbps mp3's/flac is what i usually have in my collection... How does the high bass and old rock songs fair up in 9.2's?

NAD is on the neutral side of the amplification...So a warm speaker will be a good pair...A bright speaker is also good depending on your favourite generes...

Yamaha, Cambridge Audio & Norge 2060/ 1000 is on the brighter side & would be an ideal pair with Warm speakers..

I listen mostly to tamil, telugu & hindi flim songs and they are good for the combo.....

Don't get too much in to warm, bright speakers now...Go listen and then you will learn yourself...

Even i would like join with alilesh:cheers:, am planning to opt for Denon M39 mini
Hifi system, where the review is extremely good .....please share your comments, whether to go for stock one for my budget of 35-40K!!!

I have a Luxman R1040 receiver that I have just listed in the for sale forum. It should work well with most budget speakers like Wharfedale etc.

Regards
Rajiv

Thatz really bad.....Since the prices have gone up, may be they are reluctant to stock the products & give a demo to customers...

Today had a chance to audition 10.6 and 9.6 Wharfedales at grand Cinema... WATT AN EXPERIENCE :O 10.6 was mind blowing.... I also did chk out Norge 2060 and Yamaha AS300 amps at Vipul Audio Tech.. Norge 2060 sounded better to me with Yamaha NS8390 floorstanding speakers... But I felt harshness and distortion in NS8390 speakers at higher volumes though the bass was really good.. Dono whether the speaker sounds well at higher volumes... Thinking of getting Marantz PM5004 with Wharfedale 10.1's :D

Denon 1312 A/v Receiver... Im sure if they can do this much with basic denon A/V Receiver... Itll do wonders with a stereo amp...

wow this basic avr 1312 was able to juice up floorstanders like 10.6......very encouraging to know...hehe for my future plan...:)
thanks for your information
