Hi Everyone.

I need to ship my power amplifier (28kg) and tube pre-amplifier (15 kg) from Delhi to Mumbai. And no need to mention that, I need it to be safe and sound. And to accomplish that I am looking for best shipping option. Any input from your end will be highly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone.

Safety is largely at random, purely in the hands of the people who handle the cargo and less reflecting the courier brand. There may be one bad a** in every company who may damage your parcel.

Having said that, Bluedart is best according to me, but most expensive. DTDC seems to a good tradeoff between cost, speed and handling. I have received several parcels in good condition. They charge Rs. 50 per kg between metros (add Rs. 50 surcharge). They have very good tracking facility but average customer service.

Make sure packing is good and you put that 'handle with care' sticker. It really helps

Pack it in bubblewrap then thermocol all sides then in cardboard box and make a wooden crate to be safe. that's how I'll be sending my tube gear. Have received stuff ok from gati. Bluedart dtdc ought to be ok too. A

Torque ain't cheap but it sure knocks yer socks off

I will also suggest to put one more sticker on the packet as 'HIGH CENTER OF GRAVITY' so that people handling it know that its heavy as the size of the box could be small but its weight can be more.

Hehe considering they don't read fragile stickers that could be a mouthful for the type of on ground people who normally handle stuff :)

do not opt fedex as i shipped my avr n it was rcvd in damage condition...the fm wasnt at home n his parents signed the rcpt just because external packin was fine n later when fm came at home n when he opent...it was damaged. So to be hundred percent safe. Pls note the points.....pls keep original invoices of all d products u want to ship n prepare the declaration letter n mention the exact amt. Also attach scan copies of ur original invoices....secondly opt for handling charges for handle with care option...importantly u dont do the packing first...let d courier person do i...pay for the charges better n take sign frm him on a written letter tht allthe material was collected in proper condition...take pics....last n majpr important point is ask the consignee to open each packgae, check all items n thn only sign...or else they might be in trouble...i had a long fight with fedex n still fighting butthey a'ways have point tht the eeciept was signed by the cpnsignee...if they cud had reported d issue, fedex would had reimbursed all...it is better tht wen person cms to ur place for pickup, u do a call to customer care n ensure all process os followed so u can be safe

I take it for granted that regardless of the courier company opted for, my parcel will be kicked and thrown around like a football. So, I feel it is better to pack properly and then choose the courier company according to comfort and services provided.
