I was looking for a 24v/5A smps in the local market and found a Chinese one called 'SRB Power Supply'. The blurb on the box says Professional Power Supply (!).
It cost Rs450 !! Now that sounds very cheap compared to what others are selling. I'm expecting it to be cheap in performance also. Haven't tried it yet.
The innards look neat but skimpy.
Has anyone found a decent smps brand in the local market ? Should be available off the shelf.

The wisdom on the net holds that certain brands (e.g. MeanWell, etc.) are "better" than others. The effect of all this folklore is that prices of those "better" brands have risen above the others.

I think you can safely buy the cheap brand, upgrade a few key components (mainly secondary electrolytics and snubbers) and rest assured that it should work reasonably well for a duration in excess of the warranty period.

I have got the same supply but the 12v version.. Cost me around Rs 300..

Well I was skeptic too but actually they are quite sturdy and well made..
And I second linuxguru.. Costlier doesnt mean better.
