Lower wattage bookshelf on higher wattage amp

Hi all

I was looking into this speaker model and it is rated

140w Long Term @ 4ohm
170w Short Term @ 4ohm

What would happen if I connected it to my 200w @ 4ohm amplifier? Is there any cause for concern?

It will have a better grip on the drivers. It will play with ease and control.

Absolutely no problem what so ever. Infact more the power better.
(Avoid going ballistic on the volume knob though)

I have a 100 watt/8ohm bookshelf and running them them off 180 wpc monoblocks.

As long as you don't exceed volume,it is safe to drive.You must have read,many members are keen to add power amp to their current setup to get best from speakers.

The Jamo Concert 8 speakers are very very good speakers .

Ah I see, that's good to know you can still operate them 80w above the marked limit without damaging it.

Yeah, but I was worried about too much power. I suppose 20watts is marginal enough to not be of any concern.

Indeed they are They are the first speakers I visually fell in love with

Well It's official guys.....thanks to a good friend in the us...

I NOW OWN A PAIR OF JAMO D830's in MINT condition!

Only thing is it's sitting in the us Have to wait for someone to get it for me or I go get it myself Here are some more droolworthy pics of the actual pair I acquired:

Lol I plan on giving my uncle the e875's and selling the s718s he bought from me in 2011 but had been sitting in storage for a year inside box because he was constantly travelling.

Most likely will put that s718 up for 21-22k.

God I cant wait to get my hands on these concert 8 / d830s! I plan on carrying them with me in a suitcase wherever I move in the future. They're pretty big but small enough to fit in a suitcase.

I had to live up to my given title of Jamo king!! Needed either a c8 or 11 for it!

I heard a lot of brands and the Jamo sound signature is the only one my ears like. I'm hoping the modified seas excel series drivers they say they used are mods to adapt it to their signature.
