Recently I got this Home theater demonstration Bluray V2.0 from a friend and copied to a hard disk. It is 46GB and contains .m2ts files. The problem is I am not able to play this thorough WDTV live as it seems it does not support this format and also I tried playing it through XBMC through network and still it does not play as the files are not recognized. Is there any workaround to play these files and I do not want to convert the format.

You can try playing the file in PowerDVD or ArcSoft TMT or MPC-HC or VLC players.

I'm trying to play it on my LED TV. Since the WDTV does not support I tried to play it through XMBC enabling the UPnP but it did not work. I do not have a HTPC but a wired LAN connection to my TV from the PC. Is there any media server like PLEX (this does not support m2ts) which also supports m2ts file to play back?

Yeah, PS3 media server works but when I try to play a m2ts file it is very choppy even for a wired connection. Also the audio should be loseless but the audio is only in 5.1 dolby digital instead of HD audio. Probably should write this to a bluray disc and play it through the bluray player. That is how it would work I think.

File should play in your player buddy.

How big is your m2ts file? For a problem with your m2ts file r u gonna buy a BLU ray disc every time? Almost all the blurays 25 GB and 50 GBs r in m2ts format. May i suggest u use the MKV merge and fiddle with few settings and it sud be alrite. It wont change any of your audio or video quality.
Thanx

The hardware I have is an earlier one. I think they have stopped supporting it.

I have this copied in a Harddisk. Makemkv does not support converting from harddisk.

I was able to convert it. There was an index file which I missed seeing before. This is absolutely good. No loss in video or audio. Thanks Baiju.

You can try File > Open > Video Files. If that doesn't work then you can use mkvmergegui for the conversion. In all these case the PQ and AQ are untouched.

Yes I was able to convert it. Only problem I was not able to bitstream it from my PC as the video was too choppy and the audio did not look good. However, when I copied the files to Hard disk and played it through WD TV Live there was no problem. Only thing WDTV does not output DTS HD audio as it seems they have some license issue with DTS HD.

You need specific hardware to bitstream, you can bitstream DTS HDMA from a PC not from the WD live player. I have the same issue with Asus O!Play mini. Does everything except DTS HD-MA. A 2-3K gpu would easily bitsreatm DTS HDMA and PQ from an ATI GPU connected through HDMI is superior than players like WD live and Asus oplay (connected through HDMI)

Few questions regarding your setup:
1. Are you trying to play 46GB file from your HTPC (i.e. is XBMC installed in your HTPC or somewhere else)?
2. Do you have HDMI connection going from HTPC to TV (or HTPC>AVR>TV)?
3. Do you have a gigabit LAN controller (a switch or router with 10/100/1000 mbps)?
4. Do you have enough RAM in your HTPC or NAS (like 1GB RAM per 1TB HDD - from NAS recommendation)?
5. Do you have Pentium or higher equivalent processor in HTPC?
6. Do you have enough graphics memory (like Intel HD Graphics/AMD APU/Dedicated GPU)?

I followed the below guide and it worked well for me.

A Guide to Fixing Network Shares (THIS WORKS) - WD Community

I disconnected the powerline adapter from LG TV and connected it to WDTV Live and went through as per instructions from the above guide. I read in some posts that LG TV is collecting personal browsing info when connected through internet. After reading that post I was apprehensive to connect LG TV to the net and instead connected WDTV and it works good.

The WDTV Live will play m2ts files from a BD disc without conversion. I copy them from the "Stream" folder on the disc to a DLNA compatible media server (network attached storage hard drive) and then navigate to the file with the WDTV menu. WDTV will also play files off a network share too. You could also use a software DLNA server on your PC (e.g. Plex, Servio, etc) but the software will transcode the video and you may lose quality. If you have a portable USB hard drive you could also try plugging it in to the WDTV and play directly from there.

You may also want to check to see if you have the latest firmware Release 2.01.86 (12/10/2013). M2ts files are high bandwidth and will play best on a hard wired network connection.

With the latest firmware it does support DTS-HD Master Audio pass-through.
