Hi,
Is AC compulsory for projectors? Today pro fx representative said Without AC we cant't use projector .Its very risky.Is their any way we can use projectors without ac?
Also can we discuss how to take care of projectors ?
need ur inputs.
thanks,
sachin

@Sachin,
Its absolutely not necessary to have a/c room for projectors. Otherwise manufacturers would have listed as part of installation.

Projector lamp produces heat and its just needs to be cool down or move out of projector unit. All projectors will have a cooling fan just like PC CPU and it design is taken care by manufacturer after various tests.

Also Dust is the major enemy like any high tech equipment. If you clean the room daily and projector lamp filter & unit as per manuf. recommendations that's fine.

Good ventilation around all edges and some space for free flow of air near the projector is more than enough. Gradual cooling is more important that sudden cold for life of bulb.

I am sure modern LED lamps will not create that much amount of heat also.

Ask the salesman to show the company specification stating A/C is necessary or at least recommended

Hi viper ,
6100 manual say operating temp is 0 -35 deg cent .in summer its quite common to reach temp of 35 deg cent .still is it safe? will fan or cooler work as they circulate same hot air throughout room .is there any one who is using any projector without ac?

i use my projector (been using since year 2008) without AC. it does not matter what the outside temp is.. as long as the temp "with-in the room" during the use isnt excessively high (+40 etc), we should be fine.

No AC required. Have been using the Epson 6100 projector for 2 years now. Just the air filter needs brushing every 2-3 months. The Pj is a LCD lamp based.

Thanks! I think you are having AC at ofc and with LED you may not need AC but you can't be sure with Lamp projectors unless you have any experience.

No we do not have AC at my office. We use the Projector often, sometimes the projector will be handled by untrained staff also. Though we insist them to allow the lamp to cool and then turn it off, they seldom follow.:sad::mad: Luckily its working from past 4 years.:)

That is nice to know. What is the avg. temperature in Mumbai during summer?
In Kolkata, it goes as high as 42-43 degrees and that humidity! I wonder if Lamp based will survive here without AC.

Okay, so they are not that sensitive as we think they are :)

@Sachin

It really does not matter how much temperature is outside or even in the room.

Thats because the projector bulb ignites and creates certain temperature to generate a light source.
So even if you keep your projector in different room temperature, it will always ignite at same temperature as per bulb specification. It has nothing to do how freezing or how sweating outside world is.

Yes I am using without using a/c for years now along with few friends. Even in hottest summers.
