Will you be able to see the same colors, if you are sitting 30 degrees to the sides? Usually that’s the deal breaker with ALR screens. It simply turns a screen with no viewing angle problems to a giant TFT with bad viewing angles, limiting the projector experience to just the few who is sitting right in the middle.

In theory, UST is a great solution! I dabbled a bit in this direction and I could not live with it. There are two issues that I have experienced. The screen, no matter how it is set, there are always hot spots. When I checked with the installers they have confirmed the same. The screen should be completely free of any impeerfections to avoid the hot spots since the source is so close to the screen. These ALR screens are expensive and even if we accept this, they are super susceptible to minor damages. I was looking for used screen to save money and almost all the samples had some issue or other. I can see why this happens. If you happen to stay very close to the screen and a tiny accidental touch would affect the perfect screen to an instant imperfection.
The way I solved is to have both a TV and regular projector. TV for day time and Projector for night time. I thought I would hate this solution but now I swear by this solution. Also I get better lamp life!!

I use plain white wall that has been smoothened with fine grain sandpaper. Asian paints ceiling white as the paint.
