I have the Klipsch Reference 62 ii towers + center. I'm planning to upgrade my receiver. My requirement is movies only and in a dedicated room of 1800 cubic feet. It must have about 100 wpc, 8 ohm, 2 channel driven. Budget is about 70k-80k. Atmos and DTS-X are mandatory. I have shortlisted
Marantz 5010
Onkyo 747
Any thoughts on what would be better?
Any other suggestions?

Marantz SR 6010 as it has Audyssey Mutil EQXT32 Calibration, 9.2 channel pre-out and the features that you are looking for...

Pioneer VSX 930 also seem to be good, but doesn't have 9.2 pre-outs nor DTS X support..

I usually do not run the room correction. I have an unsettling feeling that i'm not hearing what the sound engineer recorded. I considered the Pioneer 930 but they do not specify power with 2 channel driven (it is 105 w, 8ohm, 1 ch driven), so i may or may not be happy with the end results

What room correction did you try?

I have watched movies with & without calibration.. My AVR (818) had Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 calibration and after calibrating, movie watching experience was simply stunning...

You have a FS that has very high sensitivity.. So nothing to worry even with a modest powered AVR...

@sash

The two AVRs are almost identically featured and similar specs. Calibration SW is different and marantz has pre out. In the future if you decide to change your Klipsch (to lower sensitivity speakers) pre out may, just may, come in handy to add a 2+1 power amp for LCR. For your current speakers both models will suffice.

Comes down to room calibration, price and serviceability (hopefully not required)

My view may be biased as I own 2 marantz products.

Cheers,
Raghu

@elangoas - it is mostly in my mind. I have tried YPAO in the beginning and the results were pretty good. But i haven't tried that recently. I get the feeling that the software is manipulating the sound and it may or may not be what i want to hear.
@raghupb - the point about pre-out is EXCELLENT. I did not realize 5010 had main zone pre-outs, that would be awesome to have
