Marantz Receiver SR-5005 or SR-6004?

What are the differences between Marantz SR-5005 and SR-6004 in terms of performance (Audio and video) and features?

The price difference is only 2-2.5 k. Does it make sense to purchase SR-6004?

In some of the posting, I have read that Marantz AVR stopped working after 2-3 month's use. As Marantz does not have any service centre in India, repairing may be an issue. Marantz AVR owners may through light on this.

Marantz is beautiful if yu want me to light up i am one previous owner of marantz and searching to find the sound which i had before

if 3D and dac is your concern then go for SR5005 or else stay with 6004

The marantz which turned off in 2 -3 months time may be because of its manufacturing fault
and this case happens even with a casio calculator

to avoid these cases buy with warranty

You can google marantz 5004 or 6004 and you can find out that the issue is specific for only these 2 models (POP of Death) in various other forums.

As it's an expensive decision please exercise caution with xxx4 series of marantz receivers.

One could argue.. 2k or 2.5k is not too much of a diff. Go for the higher spec model.

Warranty purchase is better

SR-04 series are really having some problems. I have Sr 5004 ;After two months of use it started giving the infamous 'Pop of Death' problems .(The receiver goes to protection mode without any trigger during the play back)
My receiver is yet to be repaired.

No such problems are reported in SR 05 series. But I have read somewhere that Marantz has drastically changed the design in their latest series, borrowing heavily from the 'Denon' design.

- Anchor Bay 2015 - 10 bit upscaling

I got it purchased from Dubai. It is still in the warranty period. Due to certain logistical problems, the despatch got delayed. The set is lilely to to be sent to Dubai in the next couple of weeks.

Just a few points about 6004 over 5005:

1. the bluetooth adapter is included free of cost.
2. it has 2 HDMI outs.

The 5005 in its favour is 3D ready.

Even after going through some failure issues, I have ultimately gone with Marantz SR 6004. It's sound quality is superb. Checked for 2 channel audio with Usher BE-718 speaker and the performance is flawless. For music it's a great AVR. I have to check it's performance for movies now.

Hope it will not let down.
