I am helping a relative setup a modest HT. Choice of rcvrs. have boiled down to these two (knowing that both are owned by the same company). Speakers will be 7.1 B&W 6 series with a Velodyne sub. Please advice your listening impressions on these. I have a 2310 in my Ht and I like it, but I feel that the denon with the B&W's is slightly bright. Not heard the marantz as the dealer did not have available for demo. Also, Hifimart has a great deal on the 6006.
Cheers,
Sid

Go for the 6006. Marantz + B&W pairing should be better as well. If you can check out the Aventage series of yamaha(1010/2010), pls do that as well, as find the Aventage series really refined & near to neutral than the others.

Hello Sid :),
I have no idea about pairing a B&W with denon or marantz ,but I think for around the same line you can get an Anthem-MRX300. Should drive the B&W's well. Absolute Phase deals with them so you can ping a quote from them.

Sam

Thanks Sam - the user of this HT is not into music. It will be for watching movies strictly, so as such 2 channel music SQ is not too important whereas feature count matters. If I understand right the anthem does not come with 2 hdmi outs whereas it is great for 2 channel music. So my search is for a rcvr. that balances both, and the 2nd hdmi out will be used to connect to a LED in the same room for non projector viewing.

Hi Sidvee,

Earlier I had Marantz SR9600 Receiver the then Topend of Marantz with Jamo D7 LCR, D6 surround, D6 Back and D6 subwoofer later I had changed the speaker pack to B&W 600 series and D6 sub :ohyeah: what an improvement phenomenal. Later I had upgraded to B&W 800 series and Marantz was struggling to get the juice out of the 800 series hence I had made lot of changes to the Amp side and with the present set up I am happy.

With that experience I can say Marants would do justice to 600 series when it comes to HT setup and to mention I had not auditioned any set up with denon and B&W to comment on that.

Thanks,

R. Balagopalan
